Praying For The East Coast

Hey WA Community, I wanted to bring some awareness to communities that are going through heartship behind Hurricane Florence, and I wanted to offer a word of thought and prayers for those on the East Coast who are directly impacted. So far, it is reported that, five people have died in North Carolina, including a mother and her infant, caused by Hurricane Florence when a tree fell on top of their home in Wilmington, North Carolina.

This powerful storm has been said to have knocked out power to nearly 930,000 homes and businesses as it tears through the southeast coast of the US. There has reportedly been nearly 400 people that had to be rescued from their flooded homes in New Bern, North Carolina, only after they decided to try and see out the wind and rain.

Governor Roy Cooper called Florence an "uninvited brute" that could wipe out entire communities as it grinds its way across land. He also added, "The fact is this storm is deadly and we know we are days away from an ending,"

The National Hurricane Center is saying that, Hurricane Florence is on track for an unprecedented collision with the Carolinas, where it threatens to bring a deadly mix of storm surge flooding, high winds and catastrophic inland flooding.

They also say, Florence is a nightmare of a storm because it's unusually large. It contains waves that towers at least 83 feet and is preparing to push a virtual wall of water onto the coastlines of the North and South Carolinas. The surge will not behave the same way residents of coastal communities there are used to. Instead, this hurricane may hammer the coast of North Carolina for at least 24 hours or, maybe more, and then slide from northeast to southwest, down into South Carolina.

I don't know where you are in the community but, I live in Rome, GA, which is obviously not in the Carolinas but, it's pretty darn close. This is a storm like no other and I'm worried about the safety of everyone in the surrounding areas, myself included.

I would also ask that you be mindful of the safety of your pets. If you have to evacuate immediately, do not forget to take your pets with you. They are feeling creatures also and have a right to feel as safe as you do. After all, they are a part of our family so we need to be mindful of their safety as well as another member of our family.

Lastly, if you have family or anyone close to you that is impacted by this freak anomaly, please know that my heart goes out and prayers are going up for you and your loved ones. If you are able to get out and offer some support, please, find a way to help. These poor people need as much of our support as possible in these trying times. May you all stay safe!

Feel free to offer some feedback with your thoughts.

Very much needed at this time I loved your blog

I appreciate your support in this. We all need to be doing something, even if it's only to offer a prayer. Thank you!

Thank you for your prayers. I live about an hour inland from New Bern and the winds and rain were horrendous! I live alone in a mobile home and I thought the siding was coming off. Still have rain and some wind. I am glad it is going away but know there is still a lot of work needing to be done.
Louise

Wow , Louise honey, bless your heart. You make sure that, if things become too bad, you get to safety!

I'm glad it's moving away but, like you said, there is going to be a lot of work to do. I really pray for your safety, sweetie!

Thank you but it has really calmed down around here. Wind has died down...so I think I am good.
Thanks for your concern.

This isn't NC's first hit. God bless them there!

I know but, they still need our prayers too. I'm hoping we all remain safe. It may not be their first hit but, it is stated to be the worst! You stay safe too!

Hey Elaine,

I just felt it in my spirit, this morning, to offer any words of support to those less fortunate. Sometimes, it's all you can do that is the best you can do. It beats nothing at all. Thank you for sharing your feelings Elaine!

Jaye J.

Hey Jaye,
I totally understand because even though I don't live close I also want to send my support. So I'm right there with you!!!

Thank you Jaye for sharing this post!
Gracious and loving God, We ask you to calm the hurricane, gentle the rains, and send clear skies for the recovery. Spare those who were uprooted and dislocated from further harm.
Help those in the storm’s way to return to safety, stability, and security.
Rania

Beautiful prayer Rania, thank you!
