How to Change a Thumbnail on a Scheduled YT Short?
Hello WA Fam,
I’m facing a little YouTube challenge right now.
I recently uploaded a YouTube Short and scheduled it for publishing. By default, YouTube picked a random thumbnail from the video. But the thing is… I want to upload my own custom thumbnail
Naturally, I tried to change it. I went into YouTube Studio, opened the video details, and looked for the thumbnail option, but it seems to be stuck with the auto-generated one.
No matter what I try, I can’t upload my own custom thumbnail for this scheduled Short.
So my question is: How do you change the thumbnail on a scheduled YouTube Short? Is there a setting I’m missing, or is it just not possible until after the video is live?

The only way I can change my shorts thumbnails is to do it on the app on the phone.
1. open YouTube on your phone.
2 Once you open Your Channel, Click "View Channel" near the top
3.Click on "shorts"
4. Click the "3 dots" near the top right on the video you want to edit
5. Click edit
6. click on the "pencil" on the video
7. I then use my finger to slide and check out the picture I want to use near the bottom.
8. Once you select one. Hit the "check" mark in right hand corner.
Also, you cannot upload your own YouTube short, you have to pick the best picture from the video.

Hi Larry - thanks for this response because I have the same problem as Jivita has highlighted here.
However, even on my phone and in YT studio, I cannot see "Content" on the left - it appears on the bottom menu. When I click on the short I want to edit, I cannot see a "Thumbnail" option for a short. Am I missing something or is this a quirk of upload shorts?
Any help would be appreciated.
I'm using an Android phone if that makes a difference.

I have a android too, sorry for the confusion, I but I realize that I edit my thumbnails by editing through "Youtube" on my phone and not "YouYube studio"
