Before I call it a day I just want to blog a night-ender conversation with a previous colleague. i was testing QQ Chinese Social Platform on one of the 70++ apps i've downloaded and installed in my iPhone. despite the crappy EDGE connection i've had to live with, i was able to update my Facebook, read the NY Times, and log on to QQ using it. if i'm lucky to have linksys as my internet service provider for the day (read: wifi hotspot), i get to call up some skype friends using Fring 2014. but tonight, i was testing QQ+

first order of business was chatting with this friend. what was originally a hi-hello message turned out this way:

She: What you doin Ranji?

ME: downloading QQ in my iphone. Ill go online properly after the installation =))

She: How's your joint pains?

Me: Sporadic. You what about you? how are you? =))

She: I have musculoskeletal pain in my chest. Struggling for a couple of months now.

Me: Aww.. I think you sprained your heart. (Jokinly said)

Her: Yah. We miss you.

Me: (Ahhmmm..err...did not expect that answer..)

by the time i went online properly, she'd already signed out.

my last line was really a knee-jerk reaction, not an attempt to sound smart. but it made me think. beyond the physical, medical codex, can you really sprain your heart? and when you do, what's the cure?

makes me feel sorry for her, I forgot shes also a doctor. And i forgot to end the evening right argh....

My solidarity, Jiran. I hope everything is going to be fine at the end.

I hope and pray she's okay. I'm very familiar with chest pain - and it's very difficult to tell where it's really coming from - muscles, oesophagus (spelling?), heart. And as it happens, I do believe it's possible to die of a broken heart - or at least suffer heart damage if you go through enough heartache in this world.

So true. One of our heart operations was on a guy who already had 3 ops on his left shoulder for pain in that region. All along it was the good old heart trying to tell him something!

Hope it wasn't a heart attack.

I hope its love attack mum....

We miss you? Was that her and her heart?

exactly..I dont wanna assume either.. argh lol!

Don't worry I am sure that she will know that you were only being yourself and that you will enquire more about her condition next time you speak to her.

I did a quick search online and ironically there is such a thing as having a 'strained heart' as the heart is a muscle as opposed to a 'sprained heart' which involves ligaments and the heart itself is not a ligament.

Sorry, I forgot that you are a doctor :)

Hope this helps.
Lis.
