Day 51 Getting Stumbled

Usually when I make a new post I share it on Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and Stumbleupon. Until now I have not got more than a few views coming from Stumbleupon. However my last post, posted on June 9, has so far had 1,742 views on Stumbleupon, resulting in 745 visits to that post on my website, and counting. The best ever to that single post in a day has been 180 visits. Today is looking like it will top that. (Indeed it has before I got posting this article).

Granted the post could be more engaging. I see that from the relatively few clicks and zero comments from those visitors. The comments already there I believe have mostly come from WA. Thanks guys for the support.

So why has this post "Everybody is a Writer. 10 Tips to Improve" attracted so much attention? Here is what I think.

The "10 Tips" seems to be a popular attraction. The Net is full of search results with tips to do all sorts of things. So perhaps it was the 10 simple tips which has attracted eager readers.

The photo of Johnny Depp. This may be the top reason for so many clicks on my Stumbleupon post. For those of you unfamiliar with Stumbleupon it is a link directory. All I did was post the link to my post and added some keywords, making sure I targeted "writing". Stumbleupon will grab the featured image and description and list the post on its site. So do I have to thank Johnny for this post's popularity?

The post has received 54 likes, or thumbs up, on Stumbleupon and has been included on 9 lists. So maybe that has contributed to the post being seen my more people.

Most likely it is a combination of all three. In any case, something is attracting readers. Now if I can make it more engaging I'd be a huge step further.
