Finding Your Way in WA - Helping is the Answer

Today is my two week anniversary as a premium member here at The Wealthy Affiliate. It's been a crazy two weeks of growing, learning, creating and connecting.

As I think back over the last couple of weeks, I find that I've gotten myself into a daily pattern that has had tremendous benefits and accelerated my success. The daily habits that I've started are simple. Just two things:

1. Help as many WA people as I can with a specific focus on what I know. I'm a WordPress guy. Have been for many years and know it inside and out. Usually, I can solve WP problems via a short note or brief conversation. It's what I'm good at, it's easy for me, and it brings value to the community. Bringing value is so important.

The benefits of helping with things you are good at? For me, the benefits are two fold. Firstly, it makes me feel good to be a part of other peoples success. Secondly, helping in my area of expertise gets me into a flow state and the creative juices fire like crazy. Whenever I get stuck, I simply pause and go find someone I can serve. It works. I promise.

It's been said that if you help enough people get what they want, you will always get what you want.

2. My second daily goal is to create something everyday. It's not always perfect. It's not always perfectly optimized, but it is unique and creative and mine.

Every time I create something new, I learn something new. And every piece of content that I create seems to be a bit better than the last. I'm finding my voice through the consistent habit of simply creating.

I think it was Seth Godin that said, "just ship something". Far too many people toil over their work to the point that nothing ever ships.

Shipping creates feedback, and with feedback you learn. Learn to be better. Learn your audience. Grow as a contributor.

So what have these two habits done for me over the course of two weeks?

1. Enabled me to rank in the community. I'm currently ranked at 1586 which blows my mind. Just by bringing a little value everyday.

2. Got my first "true" affiliate website up and running: http://oddchihuahua.com
