Spam comments on my site
So I'm wondering......I get lots of spam comments on my website - this morning there were 46. Most of them relate to some other site that has absolutely nothing to do with me and I still don't know how they end up in my spam queue.
Some of them however, could relate in a non-specific way - the ones that say "yay great site, loved your blog and will forward this to my friend" - that type of thing.
So my thoughts are, is it unethical to change these posts slightly (correct the spelling), remove the website link and junk email address and then approve them?
Does anybody else do this or would it be cheating?!?

You need to remove links from comments. Overall, I think that you got flattery spams, as one member told. They are not unique. Try to copy one by one and paste
in Google. You will see that they float in Internet as debris.
My pleasure:) somebody from WA gave me advice about spams. I had them over 1000 and was proud owner till after my question I understand what it is about:)
There's no harm adapting a comment to your liking Jilly.
Just do a 'Quick Edit' and delete their contact info (email. URL etc etc).

Hi Jilly, I had those too, I have installed a plugin called comment length control, it is very helpfull, comments below a certain length and above a certain length are stopped.
I went from 140 spam comments a day to 7 a week Control Comment length keep junk mail out

Your website is yours to do as you please. Personally, you darn right I would.
You are working hard at establishing an ethical business, don't second guess yourself on this one, feel totally free to clean it up ;))
