Computer Problem

My computer screen has been has been blank all day, I had actually thought the video card might be out. I have been playing with trying to get my old laptop to work but it was not cooperating either.

I even left a message on a computer company voice mail asking them what it would cost for a new video card.

I left the desktop on for a while thinking that maybe it would by some chance come on, but from about 7 this AM til about 5 this afternoon the screen remained black. I went outside about 5 PM and came back in about 510 to find the computer screen up. Not sure what prompted it to come up but it did and I am sure glad of that.

I just tried the laptop and believe it or not, been trying to get it to work since noon and I was just now able to bring up a website on it, I guess though all that was sort of a blessing in disguise. I been working so much on the computer that I had left a lot of small stuff around the house go, so a lot of those things got done today.

It has just been a really unusual day.

Anyway now I am able to set down and work on the computer, maybe get a another post on my website, maybe set up another page and do some promotion as well. Day was not going to well, but things are beginning to look up now.

Have a great day, and NEVER GIVE UP

A backup drive is a very good investment. About 5 years ago one of my computers was "glitching" upon startup and took an extremely long time to finally boot up. One day while this was happening I decided to do a complete backup just in case something went wrong, well, good move on my part, about a couple days later the computer would not boot, I troubleshooted several areas of the system then went into the BIOS just to find out that either the hard drive or the processor failed (the BIOS wasn't seeing either of them) which indicated there was a major failure that affected the motherboard. Needless to say I had to build myself a new system (I am a microcomputer specialist by degree) and because of the backup that I did a few days earlier I didn't loose any data, so, if you are having this type of trouble, get yourself an external HDD (hard disk drive) and vigilantly do backups, or else you could loose everything!

Good Luck.

Mike

J, I would advise getting an external hard drive if you have the funds or use one of the many clouds to have a good clear out of your hard drive? We accumulate so much stuff on our machines it would scare you. Images and videos are a killer for space. I would do a full back up of your system asap and have a good look through your machine and ask yourself, do I need to keep this or that? You would be amazed at the difference clearing caches will do to the speed of your machine.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
Darwyn

Totally agree, and plan to do that as soon as I get he funds, I actually have external hard drives on My Dish Van and can buy at 40% off, so that is what I will probably do as funds are available. I do have the cloud and do backup regularly, but the problem today really got me by surprise.

Yeah computer problems can always get you down. Especially when your business depends on it! I am saving up a fund to purchase another MacBook Pro just in case -- I never want to be down! :)

Hi Joe,
I expect that as I get more funds I will purchase a new computer and use this one as a backup, I can also get an external hard drive like Darwyn suggested and will do that very soon. If anyone needs an external HD, let me know, may be able to get a good price on a Saegate for you.
