Focus on heart of your website which is "creating quality content". Of course it's important to maintenance, check and monitor your website every while but it's not something that you should be worry about. At least for the first year just focus on content and do recommended updates of WordPress and that would be enough to keep your site healthy and fast. After the first year, there are many ways to maintenance your site.
