Help - I am very confused about Domain name transfer
I started two siterubix.com sites, as drafts and practice. I signed up for a domain name at GoDaddy and followed all the steps for pointing the domain to WA hosting.
How does the domain name change on Siterubix? I thought this may happen automatically.
Am I missing something?
Any help or guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Joan

Hello, Joan. it's not automatic. Consider the following link if you want to convert your siterubrix site

Hi Joan,
The links from others may confuse you even further. My understanding from your message was that you wanted to keep your siiterubix sites, but make your domain at GoDaddy point to one of them, is that correct?
If so, then yes, simply change the domain's nameserver settings at GoDaddy to point to Primary: NS1.MYWAHOSTING.COM and Secondary: NS2.MYWAHOSTING.COM, as PastorTae pointed out. Within 24 hours, your domain will bring up your siterubix site.
Just make sure that the siterubix site settings are associated with that domain name. You do that in your siterubix settings.
I have a domain at namecheap that points to a site on siterubix, and it works fine. Let me know if you are still unclear on something.
Pointing a personally-owned domain's DNS settings to WA's servers will not connect that domain to any siterubix site. You cannot configure a siterubix site's settings to respond to any domain name other than its actual name.
While you may be hosting your personally-owned domain at WA, that doesn't make it a siterubix site. Pastor Tae and Ken have posted the training that describes how to move a site created as a siterubix domain to a personally-owned domain.
Ok, now I see how they are set up. I'd set up a hosted domain from the get-go using the SiteRubix panel and did not need to move it. The (incorrect) assumption was they'd just point at the existing site to add a domain to a free site, thinking the video was for moving off their servers entirely. Sorry if I confused you further, Joan - just follow the video and you should be fine. Thanks for the clarification, Bob.
Great - thanks Bob! I'm working on it this afternoon. Have a great day, Joan
Hi Steve - thanks for the reply. Appreciate your help and I am going to work on it soon. I am sure that is the trick. Thanks, Joan
You're welcome - and thanks to the two that gave you the right video to watch. I hope it goes smoothly, but be sure to ask if you have further questions. Tech support here is good too, and pretty fast to respond.
I did it! Yea!!! I wanted the siterubix.com name to change to my domain name. I thought it did it automatically. Didn't realize that I had to click on 'move'. Next time I will pay more attention. Thanks for everyone's help. You are a great community. Cheers!!!! Joan
Excellent! One new thing learned, and one less thing to worry about.
