Watch Out Tik Tokers: The US Might Be Next

For those Tik Tok users out there, there is a chance that the U.S. might ban Tik Tok in the coming weeks.

Last week, India banned the highly popular social media platform Tik Tok along with 59 other apps including WeChat. This week U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo mentioned on Laura Ingram’s Fox News program that the United States would consider to follow India’s lead on Tik Tok.

This week on our Talking Taiwan podcast, we just released an intriguing interview with well-known author and political commentator Gordon Chang about the possibility of Tik Tok being banned in the U.S. The other major point of discussion was recent major news in relation to world events.

Tik Tok is a security concern: it was caught by Apple for spying on iPhone users in April. Tik Tok was caught again for spying recently. Tik Tok has been used for surveillance as well.

If this happens, this will be a big blow for Tik Tok users in the U.S.

Stay tuned.

Cheers,

Kaju

fresh grounded news

Have a good day

Thanks for the information Pedrone, I didn't know that Indonesia banned Tik Tok too. Yes, the reasons go beyond using Tik Tok as a surveillance tool, this is highly political. US I hope will ban it, they seem to be heading in this direction.

Take Care,
Kaju

I havent used them either just like everyone else on here only two members who I know that are marketing this the 30 sec videos to link to their YouTube. Roope talks about that but he is not in USA, wont effect him. I didnt like the videos and when I saw the news about the US Government wanting to ban Tik Tok I was not surprised. Although thevcompany denies that the company spies or use it as a spy. If we get the ban,it wont effect me. Eventually there will be other platforms to develop.

It seems like Tik Tok will get banned, I know there is one member here who resides in the US, and they will not be happy.

Tik Tok is dangerous I believe

I've been hearing vague rumors about this too.

I've never been onboard the Tik Tok train - I only see these young people with their silly videos - but never anything serious, and still don't understand the purpose. Why not just post a video on Twitter or Instagram?

I'm quite sure there's a good number of adults here who probably won't lose sleep over it.

Still - thanks for the update, Kaju 👍

Isaiah 😊

Hey Isaiah,

Yeah, I never understood what is all the hoopla regarding Tik Tok either. How is posting a 30 second video on Tik Tok any different than posting a 30 second video on your own InstaGram feed, or Snapchat story... or on Twitter, Facebook, or YouTube, for that matter?

It seems redundant. Yet somehow it has garnered some kind of mass appeal... ??

If it weren't for the fact that it may potentially get banned for allegedly being used as a tool for government spying, then 'm sure that sooner or later, somebody might have posted a WA Training module on how to use Tik Tok as another channel for affiliate marketing... :)

... But if it is being banned due to some blatant security vulnerabilities, then that's another story!

That's very true Isaiah, thanks for keeping up. Many adults won't lose sleep. Some here have had some success with Tik Tok driving people to You Tube. I'm sure they would beg to differ.

However, TikTok is being used as a survelliance mechanism, and this is a major security issue. I think its going to be banned in the US.

Take care,
Kaju

Some marketers were driving Tik Tok users over to You Tube, which is a benefit. I was told it works better on Tik Tok than on other social media platforms. But it won't matter, they will be banned soon in the US it looks like.

Hi Kaju. I installed Tic Tok on my phone just to see what it was all about. To be honest I came to the conclusion that it made no sense to try to use. The videos all just seemed so random and silly I figured it was a waste of my time at the moment.
Thanks for sharing

Hi Ray,

Great to see you, hope you are well. Some people have had success with Tik Tok, but I think the kids will be most heartbroken if it gets banned, which it looks like its heading in that direction. No loss for you that you have't used it. The situation is very political.

Take Care,
Kaju
