My favorite book this year - The Alchemist

After many years I finally finished my first novel and quickly landed an agent. We're now working it towards publication. It's a Middle Grade historical fantasy about alchemy - it's like a potions class textbook from Hogwarts, and also it's a novel and a puzzle workbook.

While working on that, I didn't let myself read other novels about alchemy. But now that mine is done, I am indulging in fun reading of others' novels on alchemy.

I just finished The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Oh my goodness, this story touched my soul like nothing else. I now want to buy a copy to give as gifts this Christmas to friends and loved ones. I'm now going to read everything else by this author. He and I both were able to listen to the Soul of the World when writing our books. I recognize a kindred spirit.

It's fascinating how, when you follow your inspiration and learn to listen within, you are guided, led, tested and encouraged. His book is all about that. Encouragement for fulfilling each of our own Personal Legend in this life.

I highly recommend it - it's so good you won't be able to put it down. I finished it in one day.
