Amazon & Adsense required disclosures - don't get dinged!

Hi folks! I don't know if this information and instruction is ahead in the training (I'm in Level 3), but I was not approved for Google Adsense, though I followed all of Kyle's instructions, because my site did not contain required discloser information from them.

Please note that if you are an Amazon Affiliate, they require you to post this disclosure statement: "As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases."

These disclosures are required by law to appear on any page or post which contains an affiliate link. So I wondered if there is a way to put one disclosure sentence on the Home page where all of my posts show up?

I accomplished this by adding a "Text" widget and put my sentence in its title. You can see it at acoffeecat - it's in the sidebar when you scroll down past the menu.

I made a general sentence: "As an affiliate blogger and an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases."

Google Adsense gives general guidelines on their required information, you have to word it yourself. You can find it here: Google Adsense Required Disclosure

BASED on these, I added this to my Privacy Policy (feel free to use my wording, but note I'm not a lawyer and this does not constitute legal advice):
  • Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Ads Settings.
  • Third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads on this site.
  • You may visit those websites to opt out of the use of cookies for personalized advertising (if the vendor or ad network offers this capability).
  • Alternatively, you can opt out of some third-party vendors’ uses of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

PLEASE NOTE that Google Adsense also says you are required to provide links to opt out of any third-party vendors. I have no idea how to get these and which third-party vendors will be using the Adsense code, etc. So I'm not sure if my wording above is completely adequate.

Thank you, this was helpful information.

One thing many fail to see is that becoming an associate of Amazon and being approved are different aspects to working with that program.
I always heard proper disclosures were needed either in the first 2 levels of training or perhaps it was by a post. Not sure.

I believe it's directly in the training.

I was looking after my comment and that's correct. There is so much we see in the training it is hard to remember exactly where.

I had no issues becoming an Amazon associate and I don't believe I have a disclosure statement. I'll have to have a look and add one if I don't. Jim

Thank you for sharing, I had seen other people putting about an amazon associate, but I was thinking I had it covered by having it in my privacy policy. But I have now done what you did and put "As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases" in the sidebar.

I am the same with you about google Adsense, that I have this in my privacy policy. But the opt out I don't have for Adsense, only for analytics, which is a plugin.

just going to jump on here as I'll require the information/advice posted shortly by the other helpful people :)
