Youtube Project: Day 1 - Taking The Plunge
Ive always been interested in trying a Youtube channel, and after wandering into the Youtube section of our training content I decided to take the plunge. I thought that my experience and angle might help others who also want to jump into making videos. While this isnt 'training' or 'tutorial' content, it could be helpful as an illustration on how a member of WA went from a goal, to a published channel with several views :)
Day 1: Make the decision and start investigating.
On day 1 I decided to go for it. The idea had been bubbling in my head for a long time, and given the training available on the web and Wealthy Affiliate, I decided to go for it. I started to look at some of the training content we have available, specifically the series from Magistudios and videos from EricCantu. Many of these videos reveal that you can get started with very little to no investment cost outside of your time and effort, which reinforced my idea to go for it.
Using these resources I set up my channel, created some branding in Canva, and started planning out my content.
And thats really it for the first day. I did very little research outside of the courses at WA. We literally have all of the information that I needed to start my channel so there was little other research to be done. In the next post I will talk about the tooling I selected to help me record, edit, and post to my channel.

That's very inspiring, Jeramy. I love that we now have distinct communities where we can easily find all the relevant training in one place. I am at present on 'Canva learning duty'. My next step is Pinterest. And YouTube may well come straight after that.
Funny, Pinterest is on my list haha. Youtube was surprisingly easy to get onto. Try it out when you are ready!
Perfect. Thanks, I will. I am now planning to write a weekly update on my progress - mainly to keep myself accountable and, I believe, perhaps help newer people to follow along in our footsteps.

Good morning Jeramy,
Thank you for your post, it's great that you are taking the plunge!
I must admit, I almost find it easier to create a YouTube video, rather than a blog post. However, I do normally embed my videos into a blog post.
We have some very successful YouTuber's on the platform, including Mikael and Roope, who are highly experienced and successful.
Just for your interest, I have used Camtasia for years to create my videos, it is screen recording software, but also includes editing software. When I first started out working online, it appeared that all the Internet marketers were using Camtasia, however, there are more options available. But Camtasia works well for me.
I look forward to hearing more from you.
Wishing all the best and every success.
Roy
Thanks for the reply, Roy. I havent tried Camtasia, but I will check it out. Right now I am using a combination of OBS, and Davinci Resolve for recording and editing. Camtasia might make my workflow a little easier. Thanks for the well wishes!
It's a pleasure, Jeramy!
There are a lot more products available now, I believe, but because I have used Camtasia for so long, I have stuck with it and are more than happy using it. They also have something that they call a maintenance agreement, which is an annual fee of not very much money, but it gives you access to telephone help and quite a few other things.
I actually carried out their certification course for Camtasia and Snagit, which is another product created by Techsmith. This enables me to display the certificate on LinkedIn, etc.
I hope everything comes together.
Have a great day.
Roy
