Lets Build a Business: 3 Whats the Vision?

In part 1 we talked about feeling lost and finding our way.

In part 2 we discussed the different general structure of the business.

In this part lets talk about what the overall vision for our business is so that we can overlay it onto the structure and see where things align.

Vision Quest

This is the fun stuff. The big picture and dreams of the business that we want to create. Since we are ideating, nothing is off the table. So, with your niche in mind, what is the wild vision of what your business is:

My niche is music production. With that in mind I would love to have a business that builds a community of like minded artists who love to create interesting sounds and music.The community would participate with me in learning about different production techniques, exploring sounds, and creating. I would monetize through studio gear, sounds, subscriptions, and possibly some kind of patreon where members could take part in different projects and potentially contests. If we are dreaming big maybe this could also translate into a music label where I can release tracks (with permission of course) from members of the community. Additionally I would like to do honest product reviews of studio gear, speakers, maybe even desks, chairs,lighting - anything you might want or need for a personal studio space. Lastly I would love to have some kind of merch in the form of fun t-shirts, sample packs, and stickers.

So:

A space where my audience can find information on music production; including:

• Tips and tutorials on making music
• A community space for sharing ideas and getting feedback
• Reviews and suggestions on music production related products
• Community project templates and sound packs
• Merchandise specific to the community

This all seems doable. The next step is aligning this on top of my business structure to see how I can mold these ideas into goals and a plan.
