Struggling With My New Years Wishes Tonight

It is 11.50pm New Years Eve, this is the time I would normally sort out a beautiful picture that has that New Years Eve sparkle, and with one of my rare post, wish everyone a Happy New Year.

But, my heart is heavy tonight. The fires that have been ravaging Australia have finally reached my family and friends on the South Coast. They have been burning in this area for some weeks, but have now taken a firm hold.

My parents are in a reasonable position for the moment, but are surrounded on all sides, they have had no power since lunchtime, and the news reports are saying all communication will most likely go out tonight. This is very scary for all concerned, we can't even go down to them because the highways are closed.

The fire is running for a couple of hundred kms along the coast, so I messaged my cousin who lives about 45 minutes up from my mum and dad to see if he was Ok. He told me he is pretty sure his house has been destroyed, that he was lucky to get out, he said the flames were 100 feet high. He is now evacuated to Sussex RSL.

Needless to say I am scared for my parents, heartbroken for my cousin, and also worried about friends at Bateman's Bay which is also being ravaged.

I ask for everyone to say a prayer, or just have some positive thoughts for all those caught up in it all, and for rain, we really need rain. The firefighters need to rest, they are somehow working harder than really is humanly possible.

That said, I am having positive thoughts for rain, I am hoping for a miracle that somehow, the fire missed my cousins house. But most of all I am hoping for better things for 2020.

Thanks for letting me vent!

I really do want to wish all of my Wealthy Affiliate friends and their families, a great New Years Eve, but more than that, I wish everyone the very best of everything for 2020.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Best wishes

Jenny

Hey, Jenny. We've been hearing about the fires there, and wondering if any of our WA family were being affected. You have confirmed this for us here in the USA, and want you to know that we are thinking about you and praying for God's intervention. Our hearts go out to you. Hoping your parents are ok and that your cousin finds that his house is ok as well. God be with you all.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers Earl, we are thankful.

The fires have been burning for many months now, first they were up the north coast of New South Wales, into Queensland and across the top end, I believe they are still burning in places.
Now they have hit the the South Coast of NSW, down into Victoria, across to South Australia and this morning I heard reports of Western Australia. That is literally the whole of Australia.

There have been millions of hectares burnt, much property destroyed, human lives lost and a massive amount of wildlife killed. Not sure where it is all going to end. We need rain, much rain, right across the country.

We have no contact with my parents now, that's hard. 50 houses, destroyed in my cousin's town, but still praying for a miracle.

I wish you and your family a very Happy New Year, and best wishes for 2020. Here's hoping for better things for all of us:)

All the best
Jenny

My heart goes out to you, your friends and family as well as all who are suffering at a time when our thoughts should be focused on celebrating.
Praying that all goes well and that this fire is finally quenched.
