Anyone need graphic and/or web design help?

I wasn't sure exactly where to post this, so I figured my blog was a good enough place to start. Anyways, I'm a graphic/web designer by trade with over 15 years of experience and have run my own design firm, among many other creative positions. If anyone would like some advice or insight into their logo/website design, layout, use of colors or fonts, etc. just let me know. I'll be happy to help, time permitting. There is quite a bit of science and psychology to good logo and web design, believe it or not! Can often make a difference between success and failure...

Oh cool. Jenny can you have a think about this.I just created my own logo. It is super basic. I made it in MS paint using the 'spray can'. I just don't know how to get it over to my media library...it seems that the file type in paint is not recognised by wordpress. I took a photo of it and loaded that, but it is just not right. What do you recommend.?

Try exporting/saving it as a .jpg or .png file. They are the best files for Wordpress...let me know if that still doesn't work.

Yes, there actually is! What the human eye can read, what it chooses to discard or skip over, what colors it likes or dislikes! Lots to it, but many pick just based on what they personally like.

Hi Jenny, I have seen an image on a poster on allposters-dot-com that I would really like to use as my website logo. I managed to track down the graphic artist and he has eventually replied and will let me know the licensing options. How much can I expect to pay and what types of 'uses' are there??

The cost will really depend. There are a LOT of good, affordable sites out there. If you let me know his cost when he gets back to you, I'll happily let you know if it's reasonable or not. Lots of people overcharge. Usually you don't need to worry about the licensing unless you are using the image on something you're going to resell...like if you were going to make your own big cat t-shirts or calendars. But just to use as a header images or something on your site should be fine! Let me know what you find out.

Hi I am not getting any reply from him after two follow ups, although maybe people are on holiday now. I have wondered what is the situation if you have tried to contact a website to use a picture and there is no response after numerous follow ups. If you have proof that you have attempted to contact the owner is it safe to use the image? I always credit the website & link to any images I use; where there is nothing specific on the website regarding permission needed. *Mandy
