Stop Selling And Start Helping Your Readers

People comment on my articles pretty much every day on how I am answering their questions as they are reading about whatever I am writing about, and this is not just for my training website, but also for my other sites as well. So you can write for any subject with success by simply using the same formula.

Stop Selling

Many of the members who are struggling with traffic, sales, and sign ups for their newsletters are guilty of the very same thing. You can tell as soon as you go on a website if they are more interested in your money than helping to solve your problems. Whenever anyone steps on a website with more advertising ads in their content than content that throws up a red flag, and to make it even worse when they see you have banners from the top of your website to the bottom they are even more convinced to get off your site as fast their fingers can go. If you are experiencing low traffic and a bounce rate of 5 minutes or fewer you possibly are scaring your visitors away. Less than 5 minutes it is nearly impossible for anyone to read a high-qualty written article, and this is a red flag to the writer they need to come up with a new plan. The majority of your readers are going to skim your headings, and if you are using headings that provides answers they are looking for they are going to read your article. If not, they are going to someone else s website who will provide them what they are looking for.

Advertising Ads

Google and other advertising ads are not doing you any favors, they are only interested in getting traffic to their merchants who pays them for the traffic. Why waste your valuable space on their ads that if you do earn any income it is going to more likely be very little, you can use that space for your own ads or something much better that will catch your visitors eye. If you are going to use ads you should set them aside until you have a good steady source of traffic, you are not going to earn anything more likely from them to be worth using them if you don't have the traffic coming to your website in the first place.

Banner Ads

Banner ads are often more distracting than a benefit to your website, now if you want to promote one or two of your main income sources such as WA and Jaaxy for an example that is more classy than having so many banners it can be overwhelming to your visitors. The average person today is blind to banners when it comes to clicking on them and purchasing from them, but they can be a nose sore to your website and even give it a spammy impression. Everything you do with website design needs to be done in moderation, so just like your affiliate links, internal links, and external links, advertising ads and banners also should be used in moderation and in good taste.

Start Focusing On Helping Your Readers

You are not going to experience steady success until you wise up and put your readers first, and those of you are plastering your website with ads and banners are only hurting your reputation and business before it ever gets started. You are much better off to post your affiliate companies on pages on your menu than with banners and ads on your website and in your content, and even those of you who are writing awesome articles are missing out more likely by abusing the use of ads and banners.

What Is The Formula For Helping Your Readers

Starting out for many people it does take them time to understand and develop a good formula, but that is one of the reasons I am a member here. I don't do outlines like most of you more likely are doing, I notice most people's headings are focusing on what they want to tell their readers. Well, you are possibly going to have more success by using headers that leads to answers to solutions your readers are thinking about before they read your next paragraph. So your next outline should be questions that your readers might be thinking or answers they might be searching for, now just stop worrying about search engines and start worrying about how to help to answer your readers questions and solve their problems.

Avoid Mumble & Jumble

Many people are writing way too much mumble and jumble in high tech words that many of your readers might have no idea what the heck you are talking about, so start writing in very simple terms even if you have to think of it as writing for a child. Many of our readers are like children searching for answers to topics they know little or nothing about, so if you are writing over their heads they more likely are not going to get past the first few paragraphs. You got to be enticing your readers to the point they can't wait to find out what is in your next paragraph, and this is the formula that keeps your readers on your website and improves your bounce rate. Bounce rate is underestimated by many bloggers, but to the search engines this a very important statistic they consider when they rank your articles. If your visitors are only on your website a few minutes this is not going to impress the search engines, but if you forget about the search engines and write to help your readers you are going to naturally start ranking better with the search engines.

What Search Engines Are Looking For

Once you understand what the search engines are looking for just develop that formula and forget about them, I have shared what Google themselves is looking for in many of my posts plus to many of the members who has contacted me. Why contact me for assistance if you are not going to even try what I suggest to you, I have experienced way too many people who are abusing affiliate links, ads, and banners even after I tell them. So they just keep doing what they want even when they are getting more and more anxious and depressed, I see people who have started projects on their website and never completed them and jumped to another project. The worse thing you want is a page on your menu that people click on that is not complete, you need to either complete that page or take it off your menu for another day. I never publish a page on my menu before I complete the page, and to me that only makes sense to be the best way. Why would anyone publish a page on their menu that is not completed, so what would you think if you clicked on this page?

Avoid Trying To Buy Your Customers

When your website is fairly new you want to avoid trying to buy your customers with a bunch of freebies to sign up for your newsletter or your affiliate programs. In case, you are not aware of this the majority of people who visit your website understand what you are trying to do, so instead you want to add valuable additions to your website that your visitors will sign up for on their own without you even asking them.

Last week I thought I would add a chat room to my training site for my visitors to be able to chat, and this could benefit many of my visitors by helping one another just like we do here on WA. So in just about one week I have over 30 sign ups just to be able to use my chat room, and I wrote a blog on chat rooms and shared it on Site Comments. I did receive some people contact me with interest, and I had some people say they had no use for a chat room on their site. No matter what niche you are promoting a chat room would be a good addition, so this is just one simple way to improve your traffic and your bounce rate in just about one week. It took me less than a few minutes to add Simple Ajax Chat Room, I just installed and activated. I left a message Welcome to your New Chat Room and the people started signing up before I ever left my website that day.

Now this is just one example of how one little change can make a dramatic difference in your traffic and bounce rate, I didn't do this intentionally to improve my traffic and bounce rate since I have steady traffic to this website. This is just a good example how if you make small changes with your visitors in mind how it can come back to benefit you, so this is how I have managed my business for the most success over the years.

Stop Selling And Start Helping Your Readers

I am not saying you should not offer e-Books or giveaways with your newsletter sign ups, and in fact I am all for people creating their own products and I have motivated some of you in Site Comments with articles on this very topic. I am saying if you start making it too obvious people are going to see right through what you are trying to do, and people don't take it lightly when they feel someone is trying to take advantage of them. I have been doing this for about 20 years, and I can honestly say since I learned what I am sharing with you. I have never had to start trying to sell and push my products and services to my website visitors. When you go out of your way to help others they are going to be able to not only see, but also to feel where your heart really is.
