What is eBay Trending
Hello WA Family,
What is eBay Trending is our topic for the day. For anyone promoting eBay you will want to learn how to use this for what people are into shopping for. Any members with experience with this are encouraged to share what works for them, now let us start learning about eBay Trending.
eBay Trending Guide
What it is eBay Trending
- eBay tracks what users search for and uses that data to identify popular categories and specific terms. This can give you insight into what buyers are interested in right now.
Where to find it
- Unfortunately, there isn't a dedicated "trending" section on eBay. However, you can find trending information through
Search results
- When you search for an item, eBay might show suggested searches or trending terms related to your query.
eBay Motors
For car parts and accessories, the Motors section often highlights trending searches.
Seller tools
Some third-party seller tools offer features that analyze eBay search trends.
Using Trending for Promotion
- Look for consistent patterns in trending searches. This could be specific products, categories, or buying behaviors (e.g., interest in vintage items).
- Use trending keywords in your listing titles, descriptions, and sub-titles. This can improve search visibility when buyers use those terms.
- If you see a trend for a specific product type and it aligns with what you can sell, consider sourcing those items.
- If a trending item aligns with your inventory, you can promote it on social media platforms, highlighting its popularity on eBay.
For additional tips, I have included some below to help you a little more.
Helpful Tips
- Trends can change quickly, so check for updates on trending searches regularly.
- Focus on trends that match your inventory or selling niche.
- Even with trending terms, high-quality listings with clear descriptions and good photos are crucial for conversions.
While trending information can be helpful, it's not a guaranteed path to success. Combine it with other strategies like competitive pricing, promotions, and excellent customer service.
eBay Marketing Strategies
On-Platform Optimization
- Write compelling titles and descriptions rich in relevant keywords. Utilize eBay's listing tools to categorize your products accurately.
- Invest in clear and professional product photos. Include multiple angles and zoom options to showcase details.
- Encourage positive reviews by providing excellent customer service and fast shipping. Respond promptly to inquiries and address any issues professionally.
- Leverage eBay's Promotions Manager to create discounts, coupons, and bundle deals to incentivize purchases.
- Consider Promoted Listings to gain higher visibility in search results and reach a wider audience.
Now let us learn some marketing strategies that you can use in the next paragraph.
Off-Platform Marketing
- Utilize social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, or Pinterest to showcase your products and link directly to your eBay listings.
- Build an email list and send targeted campaigns promoting your eBay store or specific listings.
- Create blog posts or informative videos related to your products and strategically place links to your eBay listings within the content.
- Partner with social media influencers or bloggers relevant to your niche to promote your products to their audience.
Next on our agenda are some additional things you might want to consider when marketing your eBay products.
Additional Considerations
Open an eBay Store
- A subscription grants access to valuable tools for managing your listings, promotions, and customer interactions.
Competitive Pricing:
- Research similar products and ensure your prices are competitive yet profitable.
Track and Analyze
- Regularly monitor your listing performance and adapt your strategies based on data and insights.
By implementing these strategies effectively, you can increase your visibility on eBay, attract more potential buyers, and ultimately boost your sales.
Final Thoughts
Many members sign up for Amazon without thinking about the eBay associate program. You are free to sign up for them both, so this is something you can consider as joining affiliate programs.
I hope this helps,
Jeff

Hi Jeff
As a long-time seller myself: July 6, 1998, I agree with your post above, but the TWO things that I do, that are crucial for sales for me, is use the promotion ads within eBay and put my store on markdown for a month.
With the eBay promotion: my listings move to the top in search. Yes, it costs $ but if I don't, no sales. Most buyers don't want to scroll down, so being at or near the top pays off in quicker sales.
The second thing that I do and without it, again no sales: markdown manager. My whole store (1300 items or more at any given time) goes on a 20% sale or whatever, along with "make an offer" for every item. Many people don't make an offer and I'll sell for full price (on sale).
I find that if people think they are getting a "deal", they buy. If I counter to an offer they send, the buyer often goes away, so I almost always accept (except for lowballs) most offers.
I use social. I've written blog posts with links. I've researched trends. The other mainstay is just to LIST, LIST, LIST. Nothing beats "feeding the beast" as we Amazon sellers say, and that includes eBay sellers.
Thanks again for shedding light on how to make more eBay sales.

Interesting, Jeff. I have continued to pay my store subscription, but I will let it expire, and then will be doing some different listings moving forward!
With the price of shipping, there is little to be made from it right now. So I have it in the OFF mode right now!
Jeff
I understand Jeff
I am sorry to hear you have your store on the OFF mode right now, I know I am not purchasing as much online myself due to the high shipping prices as well.
Jeff
I can understand that, Jeff! I'll let the store run out, and do bigger listings which will justify the shipping costs. The small sales are not worth the trouble of processing or shipping!
Jeff
It sounds like you have a good plan ready, Jeff
I can see how smaller sales would not be worth it for you
Jeff
I have a lot of stuff to get rid of, Jeff! Collector's will love them, and this time there will be no Free shipping! I have sold on eBay since 2002. The current state of the world right now makes it completely unprofitable!
Jeff
That is terrible to hear Jeff
I am sorry to hear selling on eBay is not profitable any longer. It is great you have lots of goodies to sell, it is crazy how high shipping has become in the past few years
Jeff
Yes, indeed, which is why I am going to do it in a different way moving forward, Jeff! We always have to adapt!
Jeff
You are so right about that Jeff
Being flexible is a must with things changing almost daily

I don't think I've ever even been on eBay! 🤪 And Amazon probably only about 5 times, maybe! HaHa!
