Ready to Launch
Late this afternoon, I made the decision and took the step to go Premium with Wealthy Affiliates. When I began with the site six days ago, I thought this moment would be a culmination. Instead, I am thinking of this as simply a launching point: the moment I begin the process of creating a business.
I have a great job, and I enjoy it. Finances have always been tight for me, but I support my family on what I earn there. This isn't really about that. Instead, this opportunity represents something different: a chance to build something myself and see how far I can take it. I published a poetry collection a year ago, and that gave me a taste of how good creating something can feel. I want another taste.
The niche for my first website is wine education. What I've seen in this niche consists mainly of (a) basic information for beginners, and (b) wildly snobby information for people who want to portray themselves as part of the upper crust. The gap is in the middle: real information for people to learn and grow as everyday wine connoisseurs. Several relevant affiliate programs exist that should slide smoothly into my site, so I expect to spend a lot of time learning to build and leverage a site that leverages the opportunities there.
The tough part: I have no idea how to do this. Thank goodness for the educational materials available here! I look forward to learning, growing, and creating content to push toward a new level. There are many here from whom I know I can learn, and hopefully after a few months I'll have some things to teach others coming in as well. Meanwhile, time to get to work!

I think you chose a great niche! I have noticed this issue with many topics; when I want to learn about something and learn how to get better, I always either find just beginner's steps or experts bragging that are way out of my league. So I think it is wonderful to hear that you are actually going to fill in that gap with something. I believe this will target so many people out there. If you keep following the training closely and do what it tells you to do, then you will have your business up and running without even realizing it. Thank you, Chelsea! My focus will be on getting the content right first, and then using the tools to build the business around that. We'll see how it goes.
