Why i’m stuck on facebook (and what i think we can all do about it)

I’ve been meaning to write this for a while now, and today felt like the right time. I’m stuck.

Not emotionally (well, okay—maybe a little), but I mean stuck in terms of growth. Specifically on my Facebook page for Everything RVs and More.

Here’s the current score:
📉 That number hasn’t really moved in a long time.

I’ve tried to follow what others have done—heck, I even followed a solid case study from VitaliyG, who’s racked up 70K followers using a daily Facebook Reels strategy. I respect the hustle.

But here’s the truth: I don’t post daily.
And here’s another truth: I’m a full-time seasonal park operator. My mornings are filled with water systems, propane checks, and greeting campers. My evenings? Well, let’s just say they don’t lend themselves to daily content editing.

I’m not Meta verified.
I’ve only run maybe one ad.
I’ve followed the training, but the time just isn't always there.

So why am I writing this?

Because this is where most of us give up.
Because this is the part no one posts about.
Because someone else out there is feeling the same stuck I am—and I think we can help each other.

Here’s My “Why” for Keeping the Page Alive:

  • My Facebook page isn't just a place to post camping memes or affiliate links.
  • It's a digital campfire—one I’m still gathering wood for.
  • It’s where I’ll be sharing my stories, campground hacks, affiliate tips, and gear recos.
  • It's where I want to grow a tribe who gets RV living and the road-tested lifestyle we love.

So What’s the Fix?

Here’s what I’m trying next (and maybe you should too):

  1. Batch content creation:
I’m carving out 1 day a week to schedule at least 2–3 posts in advance using Meta Business Suite. If you’re short on time, automate the engagement.
  2. Reel it in:
Reels are gold right now. You don’t need to dance or point at floating text. A 15-second clip of your morning view, campsite setup tip, or off-grid cooking hack is plenty.
  3. Cross-post what you already made:
I’m turning old blog snippets and YouTube scripts into quick post captions. No sense reinventing the wheel—just hitch it to a different platform.
  4. Stay human, not just "brand":
Posts that tell a real story always perform better. I’ll be sharing more behind-the-scenes stuff: park life, family travel, burnt potatoes... you get the idea.

Motivation Tip:

If you’re losing the motivation to post because life’s too busy—start treating content like fuel, not a chore. Every post is a breadcrumb for people to find you. You don’t need to drop a loaf every day. Just leave enough to show there’s a trail.

If you’ve been stuck too, let me ask you:

  • What made YOU start your page?
  • What kind of content feels natural for you to post?
  • And if you’ve cracked the code, what actually helped you grow your page?

Let’s drop the filters and talk like real people doing real affiliate marketing with real lives.

I appreciate this post, Jeremy. I've been focusing on Facebook for a couple of months now and it is very time-consuming and slow going but I'm not going to give up. I think I'm creating useful content that will eventually blossom. I also think it depends on the niche you are in, although I see pages from all niches doing well, so maybe that's not it.
I think the only thing to do is to experiment and not to be afraid to try new things!
All the best with your journey. Keep the insights coming.

Never be afraid to try new things!

I was posting several short videos daily for over 2 months, nothing, nada. I gave up. It was my exercise videos and they were doing better on other platforms. Although some platforms actually went in reverse a little, hahaha and a couple grew. I imagine it also depends on the niche, etc, etc.

Interesting!

Yeah, Facebook has definitely tightened its rules lately.
Sometimes it feels like even small actions can trigger restrictions or bans, especially if they're flagged by the system. It’s always a good idea to stay updated on their policies and avoid anything that might look automated or spammy—even unintentionally.

2

The algorithm there is bi-polar. My trust is zero with Facebook. 😂

2

It’s also important to be cautious with privacy settings, because if you're not careful, platforms like Facebook can reveal your location without you realizing it.

1

Why am I not surprised? However, I believe that Facebook does this regardless of settings. I will literally be talking about a subject and when I open Facebook an ad appears on that very subject. First thing I see.

1

and that subject can be literally about something happening in city 🙄. That is why I have zero trust with Facebook

1

I noticed other platforms too that are "tightening their rules"... Could it be that there have been too many people getting away with things?

hmm... I have not engaged with Facebook just yet as I am still unsure about it. I know its reach and magnitude if you crack this magician code. But for me, its a trust issue. I trust Facebook with my boring page before I trust it with my business. So, that is where I am stuck at. Ive been hacked before on Facebook and the first burn really stung. Got my main two pages back but not the third. Facebook sucks when it comes to getting any help from them or reporting bad accounts. So, yeahhh, I'm just not too keen on Facebook at all.

I've seen FB hacks happen before. I've also saw the red flags in some that attempt that notion. That said, maybe I'm just fortunate?

1

Could be. I am just not giving Facebook access to my business, that is a different kind of pain in my opinion.

1

And you wouldn't be wrong in doing so. You need to feel comfortable with what you do!

1

agreed

2

I agree on the customer support thing! Many times I have tried to flag scammers accounts who had stolen the identity of some famous person in very little countries, and they kept on saying me their account were legit, evenif it was 1000% clear they were scammers. That's a big issue infact!

1

Yes, and it is a core issue why I will not give them a business account. I'll make a boring page talking about issues and how to solve them before i trust Facebook with my hard-earned money.

Well, I am exactly in your same shoes! A very old facebook page, stuck at 4500 followers.
BUT the gut inside me is telling me to start working on it again.

Recently I discovered some fb pages with just quotes with millions of followers:
- their pictures are white or black with a simple quote
- they post 3 times a day

This is so affordable if you cross-post your older content (this model is perfect for my Medium content). Sometimes we think we need to create visually beautiful posts but even very simple things could work.

Posting daily is key i feel, and posting without links is what they are after. They want you to be ON Facebook so it only makes sense to keep posting things where people engage.

2

yeah at the beginning stage, the problem is testing the different formats until you find out which one receives more engagement. Once you pick two or three formats, creating a scheduling calendar will be easier, I guess!

1

I like the idea. Automated schedules need to be introduced in my mind.
