Sometimes you have to take the long view when it comes to affiliate marketing. That’s where I found myself the other day. I asked a simple question:

“When will I actually be making retirement income from affiliate marketing?”

Instead of running spreadsheets or profit projections, I took a different approach. I asked AI to walk me through numerology. Not because I think it’s a crystal ball, but because it’s a fun way to reflect on the long game. And what came out of it surprised me.

What I Did

I gave AI my birthday (Dec 30, 1980) and the month I officially started affiliate marketing (October 2022). Then I asked it to map out my future years based on numerology’s nine-year cycle.

The result? According to numerology, 2022 was a “7” year (learning and reflection), 2023 was an “8” (money grind), 2024 was a “9” (endings, burnout), and 2025 marks a fresh “1” year (new beginnings). From there, the cycle suggests my foundation years fall around 2028–2030, which, if it plays out, could be the period where retirement-style income stabilizes.

How You Can Try It

Here’s the simple exercise:

1. Take your birthday. Add up the digits until you get a single number — that’s your life path number.
2. Look at the year you started affiliate marketing. Add it to your birthday cycle to see what “personal year” you were in.
3. Run the numbers forward year by year, and see how the themes line up with your business journey.

It won’t give you a guaranteed paycheck forecast, but it might help you think about your progress in seasons rather than days or weeks.

The Fun Twist

Now, here’s where I wanted to have some fun. Kyle just wrote a post celebrating Wealthy Affiliate’s 20-year birthday. It got me thinking: what if I ran the same numerology experiment on him and Carson?

They started WA in September 2005. According to numerology, that would have been during a “9 year” — a year of completion and harvest. Numerologists say it’s the perfect time to launch something new, because you’re closing one chapter and preparing for the next.

From there, the cycles play out in a way that actually lines up with what we’ve all seen: the early years were foundational, the following years were full of expansion and change, and here we are 20 years later, entering what many would call another “1 year” cycle — a time for rebirth and fresh direction.

Numerology vs. Real-World Success

This is where it gets interesting. WA has lasted two decades by doing the things that matter: showing up consistently, embracing change, and building for the community. That’s the real reason it survived when almost every competitor disappeared.

But when I lay the numerology cycles beside the actual history, I can’t help but notice how neatly the themes match up. Was it fate, or just a fun coincidence? Maybe a bit of both.

Final Thoughts

I didn’t run this experiment to convince anyone that numerology is the secret to success. What I learned is that whether you believe in the numbers or not, exercises like this can give you perspective. They remind you that success comes in cycles. There are grind years, harvest years, reflection years, and fresh starts.

Affiliate marketing isn’t a sprint, it’s a long game. And if a system like numerology can help us look at the big picture, even as a thought experiment, then maybe it has some value after all.
