When I tried to sign up for Amazon and I put my website was about childrens clothing it said I can't advertise on a site for children under 13. But my site is more for parents.
Another thought is if they have children's cloths they are breaking their own terms unless they admit that they don't target kids under 13.
One of the things you have to agree to is as an Amazon affiliate is to not target children under 13 years old. I would try to find a way to communicate with them that you intend to market adults and that you would comply with their" terms of agreement." They should know that kids don't buy their own clothes.
I am not sure how you would go about it but I would try asking in their Associates forum. They do have a chat service although I have not used it.

Yes that was what I was thinking...especially because I have reviewed other sites that offer childrens products from Amazon so I figured it should be okay. Thanks for the advice!
I think you better follow their rules...
But I am not an amazon affiliate, but I can imagine when you loose that membership that it is not good?

Does amazon allow their ads on sites gearing towards kids?

It doesn't make sense to me. Have you emailed their Support team? Amazon also offers Live Chat for Associates and I recommend approaching them through the Chat service. At least using that method you can expect a detailed explanation.

You post doesn't really have to be reviewing product. Let say you make a post about taking your baby out. You mainly write about her activities and how she enjoy it. But within the post you also insert, let say the dress or shoes she wore, insert the pictures. You can say how cute she look and how comfortable it's for her to wear. Then put an affiliate link.
Many people doing product review and make a good money with it because people who are looking for review are normally ready to make a purchase.
But even when you're not doing product review, as long as you can connect to your visitor and they love your post it could lead to conversion as well.
Of course not...
Example: Write a small e-book with funny stories you had with your baby... And just offer it for $1 or $1.5 and you can be surprised how much money you can earn with that...

Or you add a paypal button on your site and they buy it directly there...
