Month 1 Progress Update
New Decade, New Start
One month ago today, I signed up for Wealthy Affiliate, and I'm so glad I did! Here are some of the things that I've achieved this past month:
- Learned about affiliate marketing
- Chose a niche
- Created my own niche website using the site builder at WA.
- Learned about SEO
- Optimised the site for SEO using a plugin.
- Bought my own domain and transferred the site over there.
- Set up a domain specific email address.
- Got the site indexed in google
- Published 13 different pages including an about me and privacy policy.
- Set up my site with google analytics and google search console. I know these aren't covered until later in the training but they seem like really useful tools to have early on.
- Possibly achieved my first rankings in the search results. According to search console, I am ranking for 51 keywords, and a few people have seen my site under those queries, although I still don't see it myself.
What's Next?
My biggest focus right now is gaining traffic and ranking, by creating more quality content. The data in search console is a good sign, as it suggests that some people, somewhere in the world, are beginning to find my site within the search results. Once I have better traffic and rankings, I can start thinking about level 3 of the training, and move on to the money making parts.
Onwards and Upwards
WA has shown me that making money online can be a reality. I've been a bit obsessed with google rankings, and have felt frustrated at times, but It hasn't been a bad month. This may not seem like much to some people, but for me, these are the first steps to developing a successful online business, and eventually making a living online.
Final Thoughts
Hopefully things start to pick up this next month. My aim for month 2 is to keep creating more quality content, publish it to my website, and hopefully get more rankings and traffic. I recently switched to the yearly membership plan, and I intend to make 2020 really count!
