Recovering from an unproductive month

Hello everyone. This is my monthly blog post where I either rejoice in the success of the last month or gripe about it. Unfortunately it is the latter this time. I do feel fortunate that I was able to keep up my content schedule.

I ran into a few different roadblocks last month, and they were very difficult for me to figure out. So by the end of the month, I was completely burnt out and I could not focus at all.

It was my goal to have all the social media stuff done in March but I got nothing done in that regard. Part of the problem is is that I rarely ever use social media, so I am pretty much starting with less than most people do. I have a very private facebook account with only a few people on it and I have no intention of using it for my business, mostly to avoid the negativity that will come from my family who are mostly school teachers and traditional "go to college, fall into crushing student loan debt, and be someones 9-5 slave for the rest of your life."

So hopefully I can overcome that this month and put a decent social media campaign together. I know I can't compete without it.

Another issue is that it seems I have chosen a very competitive niche, with a lot of restrictions on the content I can write by using the affiliate programs in the niche (not being able to write about smoking cessation while promoting e-cigs is a real drag).

Smoking cessation was my original plan for my niche, but I learned that it was against the affiliate programs TOS to invoke smoking cessation. So since I had already done a lot of work, I choose not to abandon e-cigs and it ended up turning into a e-cig promotional page. Other smoking cessation products are worthless unfortunately. Most people who buy e-cigs are trying to quit smoking anyways so i guess it works along the same goal.

Of course these aren't even the issues that held me back last month, it was mostly technical stuff. I will probably start doing serious work on my running website. It seems to be less competitive, as I only have one page and it is ranked on the second page of google, and it is only really a draft that for some reason I published.
