"What A Girl Wants"
Hello all,
I was prompted to write this blog after speaking with a friend of mine. She and I had a conversation this morning about some things that she can do to make some additional income. As we were in our conversation she received a call from a friend of hers who called in distress, her friend stated that she was going to be laid off as a result of not being able to take her children to their child care program. Due to the government shut down a program entitled “Head Start” has been affected.
Why I Care
I started thinking how does this affect me? Simple, it could just as easy been me. As a matter of fact a few years back it was me. I thought about how I had no real control over when I worked, or how much money I made. I started thinking what happens if the company moves to a different state, or goes belly up? What happens if I am just like those we see on the news and are deemed “non-essential”. Then what? What happens to your bills, and who will pay for them?

After my mind wondered a bit, I pulled myself together and decided that I am the exception to the “single parent rule”. I have the desire to be a CEO with the respective salary. A stay at home mom with the ability to bake cookies, become a active member of the PTC, and volunteer a few times a week. Most of all I want to leave behind a legacy of greatness so that my boys can be proud, and wont have to start life already in the negative.

You go girl! Being employed is almost the same as being self employed, except you only have one customer! Having all your eggs in one corporate basket will never be as secure as running your own, successful business.
