Vegemite is the yeast by product that is strained off a beer Vat, The yeast sludge, it looks like tar and smell like beef cubes and taste like pure salt, its an acquired taste, that we feed our kids from birth, that's why most aussies love it.....on toast with lots of butter a small scape of vegemite ...yum or place a poached egg on vegemite toast...also yum. The poms call it marmite but vegemite has more punch...
