Very cool. I can recognize these buildings as being in Dubai, just by their architecture, but never knew they rotated like this. This family in Mt Helix, CA (San Diego area) had a house with the same concept, that they designed many years ago so they could see the views, and could rotate it to keep the sun out of their living areas at certain times of the day, and see the city lights at night. There was a control panel, and it continually rotated very slowly, but they could also speed it up. They lived on the top of a hill, and the driveway went straight into the bottom of the house, then they pushed a button, and the floor would rotate so the car was pointed out when they wanted to leave. Also very cool. Their home was shown on Extreme Homes on HGTV. I'd love a house like that, but can't see me living on the 50th floor of an apt building, no matter what it does. Anyway, it's amazing where tecnology is taking us.
No, I've never been to Dubai, but would love to, just for the buildings, of course I think just a visit would probably break the bank. I have some of their buildings on one of my boards on Pinterest, "Great Buildings", they're just so unique.
Yeah Kimmie, this house is on Mt Helix somewhere, I've never actually seen it, except on TV, but it's amazing. They did an interview with the guy who owned it, and all the living spaces are built around the center, which is what rotates it. I would love to actually tour this house, and the views were amazing, they could see all of San Diego from there.
Very interesting Joan. I have just got a brilliant idea. Why not have a building where the floors move vertically up and over the top and down the other side and back again. It would be very democratic, as each family gets a few days on the penthouse. I am sure there will be a few minor engineering problems, but nothing that a bit of brainstorming can't sort out. What do you think?
In a high rise, there's got to be an elevator. It must be in that central core. Wonder how it lets you out into your apartment or office? Would there be a hall? I'd have to see this in actuality. Vertical movement too, wow. Thank you for your ideas.
Yes, on reflection this does seem a bit ambitious, but there is a quote somewhere about dreaming of things that never were and saying why not? However your article and video were fascinating and thought provoking. Thanks.

I'd love it. Love to fly and would love the daily change in scenery. Just hope the elevator goes straight up to my floor to find my home and the cost of living doesn't fluctuate daily as well. LOL. Thank you for sharing the future by Dubai.
Gives new meaning to the word panorama. Wonder how often it moves? Wonder if each unit can determine that for themselves. Probably not because there are several units on each floor, so they'd all have to move together. Can you just see fighting with your neighbors over who has what view?
