The Frustration of Waiting for Traffic and Sales in Your New Online Business
Starting an online business is exciting—you’ve built your website, crafted your offers, and hit “publish” full of hope. But then…crickets.
One of the toughest parts of building an online business is the waiting. You check your analytics daily (okay, hourly) hoping for a surge in visitors. You dream of hearing that first “cha-ching” of a sale. But days—or weeks—go by with little to show for all your hard work.
It’s completely normal to feel frustrated. We live in an instant-gratification world, and the internet often markets itself as a place where overnight success is possible. The truth is, sustainable online businesses usually take time. Search engines need to trust your site. Audiences need to find you, connect with you, and believe in what you offer.
While you wait, keep creating valuable content. Keep sharing, networking, and learning. Each piece of effort is like planting a seed that will grow over time. And when those first visitors arrive—and that first sale comes through—it makes all the patience worthwhile.
If you’re feeling discouraged, remember: slow progress is still progress. Don’t give up. The breakthrough might be closer than you think.

Rest assured crickets today are the beginning of a great tomorrow you just need to gain traction.
Absolutely, I'm just creating content that is engaging and helpful pretty much daily and waiting (Sometimes impatiently) but I know it will happen.
I don't know what is more frustrating, waiting on Google to give you traffic or watching them change their algorithm and take most of it away. Google needs only be part of your traffic plan and social media is more immediate, so embrace UGC ASAP.
Thanks for this, Jason... this is me... tick tock, tick tock... But I am still creating lots of diverse content and I know it's a numbers game. Thanks for the reminder. Gail
I tend to get a little frustrated myself. I have to remind myself that my relaunch was only 5-6 weeks ago, and with a completely new website and brand. I know the traffic will come, I've launched successful websites in the past. This is just a nice little reminder for myself as well as anyone else feeling frustrated. Success doesn't happen overnight but it does happen.
