This blog is to explain why I do not get involved in politics, especially on social media. I have made this mistake and want to warn you that it can hurt your business. I do a lot of social media advertising with my website and I have learned the hard way how getting involved in political debates can hurt your business and this is why.
If your use social media to promote and get your content to a larger audience getting involved with political issues can prove to be a HUGE mistake. Your audience trusts you and looks up to you in your specific niche. With the country so closely divided your opinion can actually hurt your business.
Yes this will generate traffic to your site in some cases but it's not good traffic. Most people just want to express their views and move on. I am an independent and have made the mistake of getting involved in some political discussions.
Let me explain If you are Left then 48 % of the people are with you. If you are right then 50% are with you and the rest are undecided and just watching Getting involved with this type of engagement cuts your audience almost in half. I've got myself involved in a political discussion. I had about 30 percent of my visitors unfollow me on Facebook. This resulted in fewer shares and really hurt my social media following. I did get about 5k exposure but only 104 clicks.this was the worst decision I ever made because I got involved in something way out of my niche.

Everyone is watching! Social media is a great way to share your content, but don't get caught up in alll the distractions It can and will hurt your business.

Hey Jason, your right, politics is never a good subject to bring up in business. It can even ruin friendships and family, the country is just too divided these days.
