Today is the unofficial holiday known as National Postal Worker Day—and as someone who lives for snail mail, I couldn’t let it pass without a little mailbox magic.

I genuinely love going to the mailbox. It’s my daily dose of joy. A simple ritual, yes—but one that never fails to brighten my day. There’s something about flipping through postcards, letters, and bits of ephemera that feels like unwrapping tiny gifts from the universe.

My husband and I have lived in our home for 23 years, and in that time, we’ve had a lot of mail carriers. In the beginning, we had the same one for several years, but more recently, it feels like there’s a revolving door at the post office. With the high turnover, we never really get to know who's delivering the mail—but that doesn’t make me any less grateful for their service.
So today, in honor of National Postal Worker Day, I wanted to do something small but meaningful for the mystery mail person who picks up and delivers my correspondence each day.
Since I’m already in the habit of sending postcards just about daily, I figured—why not leave one in the box for the carrier themselves?
