WA Chronicles: The Hunter and The Hunted

We have All been there...

Scouring the internet...

The Mall...

Browsing through flyers....

Hunting for the best deal for whatever product or service that we are looking for.

We call ourselves "Bargain hunters" when we are searching for that great deal, that smoking offer for the AMAZING product that we know will surely make our days that much brighter.

But are we as consumers truly the ones that are doing the hunting?

Or are consumers essentially equivocal to a couch potato that sits flipping through the finite amount of channels on its basic cable television package hunting for whatever grabs their momentary attention?

The truth is that if a "bargain hunter" is scanning through their local flyers for the best deal on a toaster, They are pretty likely to only compare prices of a couple of different toasters from a couple of different stores and make their selection for purchase in a near instant!

The same goes for the Mall...

Why would the internet be any different?

Welcome to the world of...

COMPARISON SHOPPING!!

I do believe that if you read the fine print on most affiliate programs you cannot place multiple links for the same product on a single page, but you CAN have multiple affiliates.

My thoughts is that if you can keep somebody on your site checking out the products from different affiliates you just turned "The bargain hunter" Into...

"The Bargain Hunted"

What are your thoughts? How do you all utilize Comparison shopping on your websites? I'm just looking into this now, would appreciate some advise.

Cheers!

-Rob

The better your quality content is, the longer a visitor may stay and look for more. Do not use pop-ups as many visitors might see that as a distraction from the article they are reading and that could lead to leave your side and never return.

While reading, the visitor might signup or bookmark you to get back because of the awesomeness of information to be found.

So it means for you to write regularly good quality content to keep your readers tight to your website. Then you can think off how to sell them what.

Yes! Content first!! Selling is a byproduct of engaging content! thanks Stefan for stopping by!!! I've been off WA for a while, having trouble making time as I'm juggling a few projects at the moment, can't wait to see what you've been up to though my friend!

So finally you returned from Andromeda. I guess you applied for the 6th figured NASA job? Good to have you back my friend. :))

I'm kind of back and forth, Andromeda doth beckon quite often my friend haha, tonight I am here, tomorrow I could very well be in another universe scavenging for plunder. We shall see. For now, i will check out this blog of yours!

Congrats Ambassador ToLiNoLi!!! hahaha great job my friend

I agree with you. Keep visitors on your site as long as possible

If they are there they are looking for info or looking to buy, I like how you have put that one, Rob.

Thanks for sharing, Rob.

Don't have much advise. I really like the concept of setting up comparable products on a site. The longer shoppers stay on your site the better. I am interested to see the comments from the network. ATB Carson 1

thanks Carson, I'll be looking into this as well. You are correct. If somebody wants to price shop from the comfort of your website.... have at it IMO. However I do believe that you will get a slap on the butt from Amazon, so look out there.

They can be similar products ... but just not identical... unless it's offered by a different affiliate, right?

bingo! if you were to sell a cannon camera using an amazon link, you could post the equivelant nikon camera using ebay or something like that

hypothetically what you would accomplish by doing this would be allowing the `savy bargain hunter`` an opportunity to hunt the competition for the same product after clicking links... If that makes sense..

I would think your commission should not be impacted by this little loophole

Gotta look out for those aggressive hunting bargains!

I know! They're everywhere!! What are your thoughts Michael? is it kosher to supply links for the same product from different affiliates? or is that a slap on the butt?
