Roses Without Thorns
The other day it was sunny out and I got giddy walking down our small hill toward home. So, I began by telling a stranger, walking past me to the parking lot, "You may not know this, but a rose without a thorn is no rose at all." He smiled, enjoying the thought.
There was a beautiful rosebush just nearby.
My remark was so successful, that I picked a rose and walked into the Fire Station, up the incline and offered a rose to a fireman after I found one in a little room past those huge firetrucks. He was properly amused.
This egged me on to continue pursuing my quest. So, then I went into a Plumbing Showroom I had always wanted to stop into, looked at the toilets and was referred into the next room where they actually sold parts, tubing, etc.
Besides the supply counter, there happened to be a couple of people offering a "Special" on certain bathroom plumbing parts like hoses and other. After I did my little funny piece the lady told me "...there actually is a place where roses grow without thorns." She proceeded and lo and behold, she found it to be Assisi, Italy.
Wouldn't you know it - the home of St. Francis of Assisi! After sharing with her my experiences in Assisi years ago, I went on my merry way.
That was enough adventure for me for one sunny day. Home James.
