About Being Indexed by Google

You’ve heard it before—websites that are ranked highly by Google receive more traffic than those that aren’t, and the ones that rank highest of all get the most traffic of all. And if you run your own business, you’re well aware of how beneficial traffic can be to its success.

What is indexing?

Most companies will tell you being indexed on Google is very important, and it is. However, most marketers are unclear as to what indexing actually means. Understanding exactly what it is helps clear up any confusion about why indexing matters so much. An internet user may be able to use a search engine to find your site, but if they don’t find what they want they are unlikely to return. You need to make sure that when people enter certain keywords into Google, or click through from other sites, your business can be found in order for them to reach out and get in touch with you. Search engine results pages (SERPs) show between ten and twenty websites for each keyword searched; these websites are ranked according to how relevant their content is perceived to be when compared with that keyword. If yours isn’t within those top ten results – it may not even register that someone has searched for it at all!

What do search engine results pages look like?

Search engine results pages (or SERPs for short) are central to every search. They’re essentially a digital business card that attracts potential clients, keeps you top-of-mind with existing customers, and drives new traffic to your website.

How long does it take to get indexed?

It depends on how you set up your website, and which search engine optimisation company you are working with. Some SEO companies will claim they can get you indexed in a few days, while others will insist that it takes at least three months to do so. So what is a realistic time frame? As a rough guide, getting indexed within four weeks would be considered fairly quick; six weeks would be average; and anything over eight weeks means there could be a problem with your web development.

Optimizing your site for indexing

Ensure your pages are quick to load and don’t cause visitors to bounce back to search results. Pages that take forever to load are a common reason visitors hit refresh, rendering indexing all but useless. When optimizing your site for speed, focus on first load performance (i.e., how fast pages initially appear). The easiest way to do so is with a service like GTMetrix or Pingdom Website Speed Test , which will analyze your site’s first-load performance and return suggestions for improvement.

Page speed

Site speed is critical for a number of reasons, but chief among them is that it’s directly tied to user experience. People judge websites within seconds, whether consciously or not, and if your website takes too long to load or appears outdated, you’ll lose customers. Regularly look at your site and analyze its load time; there are plenty of tools available online that can help you figure out where improvements can be made.

Summary

There are a lot of reasons to be indexed in search engines. It gives a boost to your website. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a form of marketing which uses search engine optimization techniques, usually organic or natural techniques, to increase traffic to websites from search engines and improve rankings. If you have been having difficulty ranking your website in google search engine, don’t worry because you can use SEO as an easy solution for boosting your traffic from google search engine.
