Where has everybody gone ?
Where has everybody gone?
Doesnt anyone use WA's Site Comments anymore?
I ran out of credits the other day and went to do some Site Comments for people and to my dismay there were no sites to comment on.
After dropping in one of my own recent articles to get comments added I just got the same people (thank you to you ). Great stuff but, it looks a little weird having the same people dropping comments on all your posts. (Unless they were reall true followers, Lol)
Comments on your posts = more contentI dont always get organic comments to my posts so "Site Comments" is a great place to get that extra content added to your post ..... or is it ? Am I missing something ?
I know Jay and kyle use it because I have seen their posts come up for comments ... so why is it so hard to find sites now to comment on?
I have been with WA for few year now and I recall it was always easy to get stacks of really good comments posted on your sites and there were always people wanting comments for their sites ....
So where has everyone gone?
What do you all think? Do they work or are they harmful to your post and website?
What are your thoughts on using Site Comments to pick up easy (organic looking) comments on your posts ?

I'm not sure if this answers your question or not James
There are quite a few people, myself included who are working on their own business outside of WA, in my case I run an online ecademy, which takes up a lot of time, such as doing videos and building up my Twitter accounts, as everything I do daily is geared towards rankings and brand awareness, so not always have the time for website comments, though when I get notified of them, respond in a timely manner
Equally, I read a lot of blogs during the day and get leverage and traction that way
Thats my input anyway, for what its worth
I feel that there seems to be a fear to offer comments now because of rejection. Also, there are some who have been pretty vocal about saying comment quality has been low and they intend to reject. Actually, for myself, I've been back using the "give and take" thread for comments - both giving as getting.
I find it comes and goes when there is commenting availability. I find that I can ask for one comment and get many more comments.
The problem I seem to have is that of those many comments, at least half are low quality. A couple of sentences in total mentioning the title of my post and quoting a few words from the article is not helpful.
I can’t even edit that without making up my own comment. I have over half a dozen comments I can’t use just kind of sitting because I can’t disapprove the comments without having to explain. It seems like more work than the effort put into the comment itself.
I cut way back since WA changed the comments and feedback rules and as a result, members started breezing through giving comments and feedback as quickly and often as they can to rack up more credit, with no thought to quality or actually spending time on the sites.
I’m a little confused and first thought it was an April Fools Day joke. Site comments have been working fine for me. WA actually made it much easier to give and receive comments . I’ve had such a better experience with getting site comments since they implemented this. I sometimes even get 2 or 3 when I I’ve requested just one.
Well I do know what you mean ... I also have been getting a lot more comments than what I have paid for ... but I guess this is because there are a lack of articles being posted so everyone is jumping on them when they turn up.
WA is basically a family of like-minds, so it's not strange to have the same people follow you about, maybe because they like your contents.
My big problem is actually getting sites to comment on because the majority come through just after midnight. I haven't learned to comment in my sleep!
Wrong way around James. I am in Australia, Tasmania to be exact. So when many WAers ask for comments, they are daytimers and I am asleep!
I think, like fashion, these things come and go. I used to leave and request comments all the time, but now I don't. No real reason.
We did go through a period of spam comments and that was pretty bad. It put a lot of people off at the time.
But I think that's all in the past now.
Maybe I'll get back into it. Probably still got 20 credits or so.
Thanks for this post. It might encourage me to comment again.
Yep the spam comment saga was a pain for sure. and I do recall stopping site comments myself as I was getting rubbish comments too... but seems better now, just doesnt seem to be many articles posted to comment on.
I was using it a lot until a month or so ago. I actually stopped as I wanted to get a handle on how much traffic I was getting to my site without the inflated figures from comments. I will crank it back up again soon.
I was actually pleasantly surprised with the traffic levels without comments but they a definitely a good rankings booster. Hopefully the quality has returned a bit too...
Paul
Thanks Paul ... I did the same and have returned back to getting the comments after a bit of mentoring from Jay. He is a fan of Site Comments as a booster for ranking and eventually getting more organic traffic and comments on new posts.
Yeah, he said that again on the weekend. Part of the problem is also that I am running one website and setting up a second so everything is time critical. site comments takes a lot of time. WIll have to block some time out as I do see the merit..
