3 Great Tips When Designing Newsletters

There are always problems when trying to design your very first newsletter, simply because it happens to be missing these three key ingredients.

1. A consistent flag or as I used to refer to it (the headboard of the page) everything has to look like it belongs to the same publication whether it is a single page or multiple page newsletter.

2. Proper layout which means choosing one type of alignment - it can be left, center or right but you must be consistent throughout the entire production. Try something new dare to go against tradition and create something unique.

3. Text is very important and should therefore be readable so avoid using various fancy fonts and try sticking to maximum of 3 different fonts for the entire production. I personally think Helvetica is an over-used font that it is very easy to read and i would therefore try using fonts that have similar appeal.

As I conclude please note that most people only skim through so you want to ensure that all you headlines and subheadings stand out - It can be Bold or Italic or simple CAPS. Get creative and jump outside of the box. Enjoy what you are doing and always put yourself in the shoes of the person you are trying to share your work with.

Create and enjoy yourself at all times.
