Feels like I've written a brochure with crayons

Almost done with training but don't feel like enough time was spent on making a professional looking website. Like I have no confidence in adding widgets or knowing how to elaborate on menus, don't know how to use Wordpress very much, don't know the signifigance of the front end or back end of the website, don't know much about adding ads to the sidebars, and kind of wish we had created a mock website first to learn how to create it because now Im paying for a website that I dont like the niche of, and wish I could change it. I would have added a theme because a barebones website is unappealling if you dont know how to build a website.

Constructive Criticism

I think a lot of these leasons were time consuming and repetetive and very non-productive since the videos were made in 2014 and what he is showing us to do at Google Analytics is non-existing since they have changed their website many times since then. Why haven't they updated their videos? For as pressing as they are about relevent content, this training is filled with irrelevance. I'm just saying. I mean I appreciate what I have learned so far but I am a published writer. I know the value of quality content and I got that the first time it was mentioned. I have watched at least 4 videos on this and still don't know where to put it on my website. It is created and published, but its not in any menu so I don't know how it can be found. Very confused on the overall website appearance and during the live classes, we can't see the tabs he is clicking on to build his website so that does me little good as well.

Guess I will see how it goes....

"kind of wish we had created a mock website first to learn how to create it"

Well, why not create a mock one now & start playing around? If you're not confident, that's exactly what I would do.

Hello jakkiblu,
Your blog resonated with me, because, it several ways, I know exactly where you are coming from .I've been struggling with this for about three years.
I do have a website I like pretty well. My niche I do like, but,I still don't have much traffic- certainly not enough to attract any advertisers.
The videos leave me cold. I don't see what he is doing-even if I enlarge it --it doesn't help.
I do have a theme--I picked an easy one. I don't remember the title--I think it is something like number 16, I'd have to go back and hunt again.
Did you write your post in Site Content? If so, did you publish it over to WordPress? If you did, it should still be there. I'm not sure how you wrote a post without a theme --
I could help you a little- It would almost be like the blind helping the blind.
I have written a book and its in the process of being printed-supposed to be out the end of December.
Let me know if I can help--I'd need to see your website in order to know what to do.

My website is scoolme.org and I can't even see it because I have built my site entirely with my phone! I have no idea how it looks but it can't be good because I haven't developed it at all!

Good morning, Jakki,
I found your website--it is there.
I see you have it under Generate Press, and I know nothing about Generate Press.
Your site is on solar power which is the in coming thing now. Could be a good niche.
You have three short articles, one on Solar panels, another on tiny houses and one on affiliate marketing.
They are all well written- but more like blurbs.
lots of blocks--everything in blocks, and large type--it is easy to read--I think you've got a good start.
I'm putting this out, because, I'm hoping someone else with more computer knowledge than I have will pick up and give you more guidance than I can.
I think you need to get access to a computer so you can see what you are doing--and go through the lessons again and pick up what you missed with the phone.
You've got a beginning--could be developed into something good-just my opinion.
