Lazy Sunday

So, this is the first weekend I have had off work in what feels like a lifetime.

Now, I only work part time at the moment, but all the same, there is an atmosphere at the weekend that makes having time off that much more enjoyable. The sun is shining and people are happy.

I visited a childhood haunt at my grandmother's farm yesterday and I have had a mega long walk around the local park this morning, cleared my head, and got some fresh air into my lungs.

All this downtime and countryside living (where there is absolutely no signal or WIFI I might add) has meant that I haven't visited WA properly, on my laptop, for around a day and a half. This isn't a long time, but it felt like a lifetime to me.

So here I am, back to business and I am feeling rather enervated. I want to work... I am dying to get back to work, but my brain is saying no. If there are any "Little Britain" fans out there, this one is for you:

The little voice in the back of my mind is replaying all those motivation memes that I so often read on the net; the "do it now, there may be no tomorrow" sort of memes. In fact, I posted one myself on my facebook (https://www.facebook.com/jade.colgan92 ), and on my Google + (https://plus.google.com/u/0/111726132095917809881) only a few days ago. Those of you who follow me have probably seen this:

This lingering piece of advice is leading to a deep sense of guilt within me at the moment. I feel that, although I am tired, I really should be making some progress today. But here's the deal, I think I have worked so hard on getting my site up and running in the last month that today I feel a little burned out, and personally, although working is usually the better option than resting, I think downtime is really important too. So I am going to answer my comments, do a few menial jobs and email things, and then chill. Like seriously chill.

So the message I want to share today is - yes, work your socks off, but don't forget to rest! Push yourself beyond the boundaries that you have set for yourself, but don't forget to sit down and look back on the boundaries you have transgressed. Action is important, but so is a little bit of reflection now and again. We can learn a lot from reflecting, meditating, and resting, and although this isn't the WA "action" ethos is about, I am sure Kyle and Carson would agree that a little R&R generally leads to more productivity in the long run.

I am really happy that although I have been working hard, the spark hasn't burned out. A month has passed and I am still absolutely buzzing about Wealthy Affiliate and the prospect of owning my own online business. I love the fact that I only have to visit my profile to see how long I have been here; it really puts things into perspective and makes me want to work harder against the clock. I also love that whilst I have been offline, I have made 7 new friends, and again, this is the beauty of the online world... it is humming with activity 24/7.

I am writing this blog to get back into the swing of things after this short period off, and to try and break out of the lingering lethargy of laziness that has descended upon me.

Tomorrow as it is a new week, will be the time to smash all of my goals and expectations.

Moving on up! (after a nap).

Don't forget to rest!

Jade.

Thank you for sharing this. I have been feeling this burned out feeling too, and in the end decided I needed to give myself some "me time" this weekend. So it's nice to see I'm not alone. :)

Yes exactly Stephanie! Thanks for your comment, it is so nice to know that everyone feels like that from time to time - it makes me feel so much better about being unproductive :)

Have a great Monday!

Jade.

Hi Jade. Read my blog about something similar .. Except that I'm embracing tortoisehood. So glad that you took the time to meditate, relax, and renew. I hope you'll do more of it! Carol

I will take a look Carol.

It must be something in the water if we are all feeling the same way. The people who have commented have made me feel much better about having downtime. It is nice to know that we all get to that point from time to time :)

Have a great Monday!

Jade.

Thank you for posting this Jade, I feel like you were speaking to my heart. I have the hardest time resting and as the people who follow me know, I don't sleep either. So rest is definitely something I need to focus more intently on.

I hope you have an enjoyable nap and wake up feeling refreshed!

Rae Anne

Hi Rae Anne,

So pleased you enjoyed this! I felt a little bit unproductive writing it as I thought it wouldn't provide the reader with much information or anything. So I am so glad it has been useful to someone :)

Not being able to sleep must be very frustrating. I hope that you can find a way to feel more rested... I have my fingers crossed for you!

Thanks, and let me know if there is any way I can help you with anything at all in the WA community. I will give you a follow now. :)

I hope the rest of your day is peaceful and relaxing,

Jade.

Hi Jade,

Taking time off and getting a good sleep can do wonders. Different individuals have different balances which give them happiness while making them productive according to their beliefs I am always amazed at how both similar and different human beings really are.

It gives me great happiness to see the many ways to a beautiful life that are quite different than from my own. Sharing our ideas and feelings here on Wealthy Affiliate reveals humanity for me. Thanks Jade.

Best regards,
Roger

Hi Roger,

It really is amazing, I agree. I have friends that are just as productive after 4 hours a night sleep as I am when I have had 10!

That is a really beautiful way of looking at the WA community, and online networking in general. Many people argue that technology is taking away our humanity, so it is so nice to hear someone say that, in fact, it is contributing to it. I have to agree. The meeting of minds here at WA is truly incredible.

Thanks for your lovely comment and all the best! Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you on this online journey.

Jade.

Hi Jade,

Your words are like warm fuzzies to a strict, old regimented Canadian who always mentions his German Heritage. It is sometime unbelievable how a few words at the right time can totally change ones mood and outlook on the future of humanity.. Thanks again.

Regards,
Roger
