Please start using these two words more often,with the people that matter most.
I found this journal entry of mine when I was running my restaurant. I wrote it shortly after my twin boys were born in 2011. At the time, the heart-felt "thank you" I thought was due was given to my customers. Looking back now, I realize who I truly had to to thank, and so I have changed the entry. I would like to share it with you now.
The restaurant business can be unkind, unforgiving, tiresome, and in many ways unrewarding. A million details, a million hours, a million headaches that you have to deal with, a million more you never had the time to get to. So many missed birthdays, holidays, outings, reunions. Your heart breaks for all the first steps your children took that you didn't get to see and breaks some more for the first words they speak you didn't get to hear. THIS BUSINESS CAN SUCK more than most people can imagine. The ONLY thing that makes it possible to continue on one more day, one more table, one more plate , is the support and understanding from your close family and friends.
They are the ones who make the bigger sacrifice. Life goes on for them without you and in your absence, a huge void is left. Not just for things like taking care of the kids, the house, the bills, the STUFF, but also for those times when things get so bad that we need our spouse, our dad, out best friend to emotionally carry us. For those times when a quick text or a 2 minute "Face Time" is all you can give, and it's clearly not enough, but they take it anyway. They deserve a very heart-felt thank you.
If you are living a life like I use to live, if any of this rings a bell , make it a point to thank your close friends and family often. Hug them every chance you get. Understand that life doesn't have to be like that for you, for them. There is another way. I know, because I believe I have found it right here at "Wealthy Affiliate".

Thank you Michael! I work at a very busy Casino Resorts in LV..I know exactly what you mean. .I have no weekends off, no holidays off, working at night. My job looks great seen from outside, but it sure looks different from my perspective. .
I hear ya :) People use to say to me "but it's FUN going to a restaurant "! It's fun going to Disney World, but I can't imagine the poor souls walking around in the Florida heat wearing those heavy furry character costumes are having a blast.
Don't get me wrong; I don't want to come across as ungrateful for a job or to an industry that puts food on my table and keeps a roof over my family's heads. The hospitality industry provides for many people all over the world, but it NEVER gives back as much as you put in. How else could it provide free drinks and comped suites ;)
