Hello. One of my favorite courses in business school was Organizational Development. We learned how to do SWOT analysis on competitors. You basically create a four quadrant paper listing the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats of the business.
You can Wiki the SWOT Analysis to get more in depth details. It's a good exercise and can provide a lot of insight about an organization. The end result will provide a list of strengths and opportunities a company can build on while trying to minimize its weaknesses and threats. I'm sure Blockbuster Video wishes they could revisit their analysis of RedBox and Netflix ; )

How do you dissect a business that you want to model?

Hey infogenius.
This is just practical.
You can model a business from different handle. eg. wordpress.
If you want to model wordpres, you probably design a logo looking close to W instead M.
Use different shades of colors but closely related. Then you just create content and promote a free platform. lol.
You want to avoid copying from the website.
You just need to reverse the ideas from that site to your site.
Best of luck,
Wayne

Is outsourcing SEO one of the "secret" KEYS to Mega success as an internet business owner? Please pm me if you dont feel comfortable responding to this publically. lol thanks<
Outsourcing isn't necessarily secret or essential for mega success, but it can be pretty essential to scaling your business. But it's nice to know enough about what you'll be outsourcing before you actually try it so you'll know what to expect and can avoid getting screwed over.
Check out fiverr just make sure you pick the people with high ranking and longevity. But like Dave said it is best to build one first on your own and just take time doing it.
good luck
Tommy
SEO is basically keyword research and writing good content based on the right keyword/keyphrase. Then use your favorite SEO plugin "All In One SEO Pack" or, my favorite "WordPress SEO" by Yoast. If you let the plugin do its work you will see if you have SEO working properly on each post. "WordPress SEO" will give you a green light if everything is OK. ~Marion
I am just a beginner so "doing it all by myself" seems very daunting. Outsourcing seems to be a way to compensate for the things that you cant do or dont know how to do or simply dont want to do, right? I have heard people admit that doing it all by themselves burned them completely out. Wore them down. I just want good and reliable and inexpensive "help" and expertise to be there for me just in case i cant do something or simply dont have the time for it. Is there anything wrong with that?
Hey!
So, I've read a fair bit about this. If you want to grow beyond a certain point, I think outsourcing is a must. HOWEVER, if you don't have the skills yourself, it's very hard to judge the quality of somebody's work or make little tweaks which maybe necessary to make to work that you've outsourced.
The prevailing advice seems to be to build at least one site on your own from scratch so that you at least have a basic knowledge of everything. Then you can pick and choose what you outsource.
Outsourcing is fine and a good choice when you trust who is doing the work. :)
Remember, SEO is fundamentally easy now days, the content and keyword selection is every bit as important.
@Shawn Martin, my point exactly. I know it is a long shot but that is the reason i was asking people to share their personal experiences with their outsourcers. I dont, like nobody else here, want to spend money on the WRONG person or company. I was looking for DIRECTION and sources so i will just wait and see if anybody will share with me here.
All good points guys and girls but i was talking more on the side of NOT having time to learn or DO all this YOURSELF, by YOURSELF. I guess i see outsourcing as, "two heads are better than one". Anyway, does anyone care to pm me the companies that outsourced for you that brought about the best results? Just in case i decide to outsource when i'm ready. thanks
SEO is like a chess game. sometimes you win sometimes you lose. Don't get to caught up with SEO and looking for "experts" to help out. You can drop thousands of dollars on training/experts and still not rank. If you have great content, good on page SEO and social network syndication you can do well. most important is good content!
I think s lot of people did years ago, in fact i know they did because I had an SEO company for local business, in fact I still have it but don't promote it because it is content that will ring true in the end. I am not saying SEO does not matter but certainly i be worrying a lot more about other things being right before I looked at me seo
So many people in this business think that the whole goal is getting your website to page 1 but what is the point if your website does not convert people into buyers
Most people forget the fundamental skill in business is understanding people, not websites or SEO
If you do not understand what makes people tick you website may as well live on page 10
Barry
The companie where my husband works, hired somebody to work on the SEO for the companies website, ever since they are on nr.1 page of google, They started when the good man was ready on the first position, now they are dropped to the 5th position, because nothing is happening on that website. I think it is very important there is action on your site, to get your page up and stay in the picture for ranking

Are there any EXPERT Video marketers here, specializing in Youtube marketing? Before i go investing in a 1,000.00 course on the subject i would want to know if there are people
You can try contact Glob https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/glob/blog/my-first-blog-and-a-challenge-to-myself
Leo has been doing it for years and would probably give you some good advice. He will tell you it's quite involved and you can spend years Learning. As he has.
Rick
Hey tommydillard, I'm new here - just joined premium. I will check out Jay - I am always ready to learn and help out with my knowledge where I can. What comes around....
Hi Infogenius. Disclaimer - I am not a video marketing expert.....but I have paid for and been through several online programs, namely Gideon Shalwicks,James Wedmores Video Traffic Academy and a few others.
You will need to dedicate quite a lot of time to learning equipment use and techniques as well as Youtube channel development. You will also need a budget for various tools/subscriptions etc.If I can help you, I will. If I can't I will tell you....
@byderman, THANK YOU!!!! " If you build it, they will come" lol I will certainly pm you tomorrow. thanks again for your guidance.
Actually I was just thinking about that.. incorporating them into my site... but great question... ask and you shall receive... Thank you for asking...
The courses that you mentioned are mostly scam products. I would avoid them.
If you want to get started with video marketing. I would start with the Live Video Classes that Jay has done.
There are experts here. You will need to build relationships inside WA and they will appear.
@Labman, thanks. Why did you state the above courses are mostly scams? Interested to know. Ok, Which Jay are you referring to for the Live Video Classes please? And particular Live Video Class you advise i view first? Are there any on HOW TO become a video marketing consultant? thanks
MOJO is an outright scam. I reviewed that one and there is nothing there to learn. Just an expensive come on.
There is some good information at Udemy on this topic. Lynda.com has some good information as well. These are probably less expensive than the products listed above and are from reputable training sites.
