More Logo and Design Feedback Needed
Wow, been a busy week as I got a ton of feedback on my MMO or Make Money Online site Income Legion, and its logo. Not all the feedback was incorporated but the whole of my site improved from the keeper points.
One thing that seemed to be absent and hurt some of the tips was I failed to mention a couple of things. The first is that I am an experienced marketer with over 20 years in business and have done my own designs and advertising for another 10 years before that in the offline world. The second is I failed to mention my customer avatar which is the core audience of my blog so I got feedback from a couple of people that would have fit well if the logos were for a professional site like health and wellness, something law-related, or just about anything outside the pomp and flash that is standard in MMO.
So here we are with my Passion Niche which is Sports Fan Focused, and I mean Fanatics, not the people who may or may not show up for Monday Night Football. My niche is Planning the Perfect Mancave or Fancave since nowadays the ladies are spending as much as the men.
Sports fans have a wide range of incomes with even Presidents and such watching games and throwing some mighty good first pitches. But being sports you need to think LOUD AND PROUD, and not reserved. My ideal customer is typically under 50 but over 30 and has a fair amount of disposable income and spare room in their home or garage to dedicate to their sports hideout.
The budgets for these home renovations often top $30,000 and some of these Fan Caves range into the low 6 figures or more. Think of that movie star with a private putting green and bowling alley next to the in-home bar. The buyers are largely male audience by about a 76% skew, and tastes range from sports bar look and feel to oak cabinets hiding complex gaming systems.
The furnishings range from a leather couch to a Sports logo throw covering 80% of that leather couch.
That said the site to see this in place is GrandSlamCity.com. The core logo I need feedback on is located below. I may add additional renditions in the comments, the Teal Coloring is one of the core colors of my own fan favorite Arizona Diamondbacks of Major League Baseball.
Here is an example of the logo in use on one of my social media headers.
I would love to see members in the comments offer not only feedback to help shape or not shape the logos but if you have a similar project I would love all-around discussion. I want to hear favorite teams and sports. For me I am a Baseball (Diamondbacks), American Football (Jacksonville Jaguars), and NASCAR (Stewart / Hass) fan with other interests in boxing and WWE (I know it is scripted) Wrestling. I watch many Olympic events but am not a huge fan there except for archery, and shooting sports, and I play 8-ball pool, and love shooting darts.

Hi Andy,
since your target is mainly focused on baseball, I did a research on baseball teams logos to understand their main characteristics.
What came to my eyes as common feature of most of baseball teams logos is the
USE OF FONT.
The font is generally VINTAGE (because it generally tells the story of a baseball team with a long history).
So my two points are these:
1. Choose a vintage font (I don't know why I cannot upload any photo here, but just search on google "logos of baseball teams" and you will immediatly understand what I am talking about)
2. Choose a palette of colors (6 at least to spread in the logo and the website because they will represent your brand).
:)
Thanks, the font I am using is the same font that was used for the Circuit City logo I believe and they used to sponsor a lot of hometown teams and had a good 20+ year run. I am really interested in looking into more team-used fonts but also want the identity to be our own not signaling just one team. wi
I did go with a retro Patch type layout for the design so it looks almost like the patches they put on uniforms. I did this to honor heritage but more so to fit with the types of products most likely to be featured. I am already an eBay Partner Network member and I also will look to renew interest in Amazon Affiliates while trying to make deals with Meuller Sporting Goods, MLB Shop, and more.
The site has no content on it yet, but the design I started to dive into yesterday and completed maybe 40% of the work on it so far. My header will likely change some to move content up more and maybe remove the Football image that is out of place until I decide if I am doing just 1 site on Man Caves or one for Baseball, and one for American Football.
Hey there! I have a fairly new softball website, and Ive created a few logos myself as well.
Although you mention a few sports, trying to put all of them in one logo would be messy.
Will put on my thinking cap to come up with a sports logo that specializes in your niche focus.
Love the FanCave name, first Ive heard it called that!
Thats a great niche, too, because I know some fokks that have up their caves with some high class decor.
Im also a pool player, 8, 9 and 10 ball, depending on the league.
As far as favorite teams, Football- LA Rams, Seattle Seahawks, Baseball- Seattle Mariners, Anaheim Angels, used to be a Seattle Celtics basketball fan, and enjoy watching local minor league baseball.

At first I will be focusing on team by team inside baseball as that season just started but have not ruled out a separate domain for American Football as I have a list of several great ones that would make good niche sites. Grand Slam City would draw less interest in a search for something like Jay's Football Snack Helmets as the Grand Slam is largely a baseball term other than I have heard it mentioned in golf and tennis for winning a series of key events.
I used to watch the Seattle Supersonics when they would play either the Bulls or San Antonio Spurs but it has been years since I last watched Basketball. Arizona Diamondbacks destroyed Colorado's Rockies tonight in our home opener, guess they shouldn't keep walking our top player we scored 14 in the 3rd and went on to win 16 to 1. WOW.
that 01' team broke the ice and we had a great run last year, time to show L.A. they can't keep buying championships, no matter what NYY has done in the past.
@incomelegion Hey. To begin, I've been a Yankees fan since I was 5, 49 years. NFL - Cowboys since I was 9, NBA used to be Celtics, then Knicks, now I support my son's fav the GSW, NHL - Islanders in youth, Rangers as adult, Jeff Gordon, Arsenal and Bochum, Jimmy Connors and Agassi, Evert-Lloyd, MJ.
My honest critique on logo: by itself it attracts the eye with the Marlins color. Overall, It look simplistic and older style. It doesn't seem to match the other two pics, causing it to look out of place, but with Teal its hard to fitich but a beach theme or seq theme.
It certainly draws the eye. Id play with the design and a more modern look for ut.
Just an opinion of one dude, though. Don't put much weight into it.
It-s fun to create logos. Much success to you.
Colin
The retro theme of the logo was selected on purpose due to the Sports memorabilia which will likely be my bread and gravy and the time-honored tradition that is America's favorite pastime.
Awesome!! Love Baseball, my favorite sport to have played 10 years in my youth to 20s, and watch when I can. I am.checking out your site, for sure. On my task list now.
Best of success to you,
Colin
Yeah I played Baseball in school and softball up into my 30s. Loved playing and wish my health still allowed it. I pitched and played 3rd. Hot corner was my favorite.
Sweet, man! Pitched and played SS and CF. Miss it so much, myself. No way at 54, I could play now. Haha.

Hi Andy,
Nice looking logo. To my eyes, the colors give me that feel of being on the baseball field, with freshly cut grass and foul lines. It kind of reminds me of an old Super Nintendo logo from back in the early 90s.
Can't wait to see what other logos you come up with!
I was born outside the Bronx, New York which means the New York Yankees' blood runs through my veins. My dad worked the Number 4 train for twenty years right next to the Old Yankee Stadium, which I visited often. I still have my gear, bats, old ticket stubs, and my vintage baseball cards.
I miss the old format though - just get straight to the NLCS/ALCS and cut out all of this interleague play - it ruins the mystique of the World Series. Just my opinion.
I also played varsity baseball in high school, but never pursued it further.
Isaiah 😁
I definitely don't like all this expidited game stuff since Covid, baseball isn't supposed to be hurried it is to be enjoyed.
