Bouncing around - due to SSL?
Just been checking the rankings for KWs on a few sites. These are affiliate sites with Amazon links.
Apart from that the only thing they have in common is that I switched the sites over to https ( SSL) last month.
Since then the SERP averages have been up & down like a yoyo. Before it was pretty steady.
Example below. This is average daily position of the 63 KWs that I'm tracking for this site.
Anyone else switched over recently & seen similar bouncing? Just wondering if it's common or to be expected.
( If you aren't tracking KW positions then you can for free, using http://serplab.co.uk - although the free version doesn't show search volumes. )

I have experienced the same Ian. Did you do 301 redirects to the https site or is that necessary?
Just use the 'Really Simple SSL' plugin - that takes care of everything. No need for adding redirects.
Once I'd done the first site it was just a 5 minute process to switch each site over.
1) Enable SSL on server
2) Install plugin
3) Activate plugin
4) Log out of site and back in to https version
5) Update analytics with the new site - need to add the https version
6) Update WMT with new sitemap
I'm hosted with WA and, although some members here have had their sites switched over to SSL, mine hasn't changed.
They called for volunteers to test the Beta version a few weeks ago. I'm sure we'll get an announcement when the real version is ready to roll out.

Seems like maybe most of us should wait and see what's going on with this SSL thing.
