Please could someone describe how to set up your website (i.e. your online marketing business) with your business name?

Use your business name as your domain name. For example, if your site is about wine growing and you wanted your business name to be Vine to Wine that is what you would put in your domain name. Your URL would then be http://vinetowine.com and the name of your site would be Vine to Wine. Hope this helps. Margaret

A good idea would be to build it nto your URL from the go get!

Hello MKearns, thanks for providing some feedback to my question. By the way, building my business name into my URL is at the stage of building my website, right?

An initial step yes!

I think he means when you purchase your domain name.

So the initial time to start using my business name is when I purchase my domain name and not when building my URL, right?

Do you mean when you're purchasing your domain? Have you registered your business or at least a fictitious business name?

I already have a registered business name that I would like to use for my online marketing business but I would like to know at what point in this online marketing business I am supposed to use it (is it during the building of my website or when buying my domain)?

Depending on the country you are in, I would speak to a tax expert. I know that here in the US, I still have to list everything in my name, however I also list my business name, because I operate as sole proprietorship and use my SSN. If I want to only use my business name, I would have to file for a tax ID number and set up a separate banking account in that ID number.

That said, the majority of services that you will be using to set up your website allow for you to list your business name. I would use it from the start rather than try to change everything over down the road.
I hope that makes sense, and I hope it helps.

Hi Jencraft, thanks for providing some answers to my question. By the way, I also live in the US (Atlanta, GA to be specific) and as I mentioned before, I already have a business name with a tax ID number registered with IRS as well as a business checking account with Bank of America. I just wanted to know the very point to start using my business name (because I would not like to use my legal name initially and subsequently switch to my business name as this could get things more complicated).

Ok, I didn't want to assume that you were here in the US. Yeah, if you have a TIN, I would definitely put everything in the business name from the start. I wish I had started out that way.

I would also ask a tax expert if you can convert your membership here to your business, especially if you use this place for web hosting.

Wow....many thanks for this additional info!
