Hello all,

I like LinkedIn and it is one of my favorite social media sites.The reason for this is that it one of the easiest to navigate.It’s easy to open your account and begin building your profile. It’s also easy to edit it and add a number of cool things to it as well.I have a list of over 40 things you can add to your profile!

Upon opening your account, you will do the following:

1.Enter your name or company name and select at least one administrator

2.You can upload our picture next or logo

3.You then can begin building your profile.Make your profile dynamic and not just a listing of your jobs or accomplishments.Build your profile as though you want to entice someone to come visit you.

4.Build out your background, education, previous jobs, etc. LinkedIn actually has prompts to help you through this process.

5.Lastly, for your last job title (which is what will show in your header) change this to the header you want people to see.For instance, my last job title was “Director of Human Resources” but it’s not what I am doing now.I changed my header to read, “Ice Skating Coach, Writer and Creator and HR Consultant”.And, this is a header that I change as my direction changes.

What I also like about LinkedIn is that they have added an article feature which means you can write articles for others to read. So, I tend to write articles monthly on various topics.

Another feature that LinkedIn is known for is recommendations.I ask people periodically to write recommendations for me.It’s a nice way to round out your profile.

As mentioned above, there are over 40 different things you can add to your profile.Here is a short list to get you started:

Press releases

Videos

Awards

Certifications

Free offer on your website

Your participation at a tradeshow or conference

A video tour of your place of business

A new online service

An addition or new feature at your website

Promotions

Trends you are seeing in your industry

Any event your business is having

A new website you want to share
