Website Ranking means you have a lot of readers going to your site. The mote traffic you get the more ranking you get. The higher the ranking (more traffic) the better page you will be in the Google Search engine. The target is to be on page one.

It goes down when you are active on WA. If you comment on others posts and like them, if you speak in chat and if you answer people’s questions. It has no monetary value

Yes to what has already been said. But it's still fun to watch the number change as you get more involved.

It doesn't necessarily matter in the grand scheme of things, but as you do your research, follow more people, ask more questions, you will naturally climb in rank.

Maybe you're talking about WA rank. So your rank will decrease into smaller numbers when you become more active within the platform like welcoming the new members, congratulating members who upgraded to premiums, answering questions, commenting on members blog posts, post your own blog within WA, and so on. You can click on the rank numbers you have and it will take you to the page where you can see the breakdown of your rank based on your activity (if you are a top helper, top creator, etc) and you can also see list of people who got the ambassador ranks (Rank 1 to 25), etc.
