Maintaining the Struggle in Affiliate Marketing

If at first you don't succeed . . . ?

Well, the very last thing you will want to do is give up!

Believe me, i've been working at this madness for years, I've had some small successes . . . actually i used to have a website called "Small Successes Online," and i actually created some small successes!

The path for online marketing success is paved with a lot of exits, detours, and road hazards, for lack of a better term. It's so easy to take an exit to what one might think is a better route; this route that will actually lead us to the proverbial "nowhere" or even worse, we get sidetracked toward "no value." I have visited both destinations as well as a few other choice options, such as "effortless success," "overnight riches," and so many more.

I even joined Wealthy Affiliate years ago, probably when they were just getting started. And even at that time, I didn't bother to really give WA the attention they deserved. Even after committing to a Premium account, I still get caught up in "trifleness" and "non-focus."

I have come to realize that my success is not based on a blueprint of easy drop in the bucket profits. It's based on taking the time and making the effort to really learn the basics of affiliate marketing and online marketing of all the stops that I have made in my journey, I have yet to find any resource that is as complete, user friendly (to a point), cost-effective, and supportive as Wealthy Affiliate.

A few Idiot Tips . . .

1. Whatever you do, don't give up!

That doesn't mean that you won't get discouraged, or de-motivated. That's life. And as we all try to navigate through the Covid-19 new normal, discouragement, frustration, and lack of motivation, have become everyday occurences.

If you have even a twinkling of an idea to explore affiliate marketing . . . GO FOR IT!!!

Even if you don't have a niche, or a passion or any of those other buzz-terms you read and hear, do not let that disturb you. You won't lose anything but a little time in the beginning.

2. Go for free . . . spend absolutely as little as possible

Take advantage of any free sign-ups or trial offers. But with the trial offers, make sure that you opt out of the trial before the end of the trial period so you won't get charged.

Some programs offer full service and functionality even during the trial period. This gives you a chance to see where your interests lie, or, honestly if you have any interest at the moment. Notice, I said . . . 'at the moment,' not 'at all.' There's a big difference between the two concepts.

Try not to make any major financial commitment at the beginning. During these times, especially, household and personal budgets are priority number 1 until the new normal becomes more stable around the world.

3. Limit your focus

One of my biggest problems is trying to check out every possible opportunity and potential. Don't waste your time. Focus on one or two resources . . . . a few that are reliable, and work with them as consistently as possible. I have dipped and dabbed around the affiliate marketing neighborhood, and i still recognize that WA has the most useable and readily available resources on hand that I can use to get up and running in a reasonable amount of time.

There is no benefit in spreading ourselves thinly around the marketing landscape, especially in these times with so many new and untested programs floating around, a lot of which are no more that phishing expeditions to get your information or lock you into some other commitment that you are not ready for.

4. Try to be as consistent as possible

Once you have decided where you want to focus, even if you haven't decided on a niche yet, then work that focus as much as you practically can. Even if it's one hour a week, be consistent and committed to that one hour until you can add another hour or whatever. That is the only way we can see results and really grow in our efforts.

I've said enough for now!

There you have it . . . Four simple tips. Now if you decide to focus, or re-focus with Wealthy Affiliate, you will find so much more to help you learn and grow. I have learned . . . . unlearned . . . re-learned . . . and still learning . . . I wish the best for you all . . . .

Keep moving forward.

    Great share, thanks

You brought a good point here, it's so easy to find the way out. It happened to me twice, I just didn't want to do the hard work. But I'm back again with the objective to go all the way this time. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent! These are my exact thoughts! Feeling frustrated after 3 1/2 years but I keep going on!
    Thanks :-)
