How to clean Laptop and PC Accessories
The laptops and desktops we use are among the most touched items in our homes. With time, dust, food particles, and oil build up in our laptop and pc keyboards and mouse. The monitor is not an exception. Hence they can also carry a lot of germs which needs to be cleaned out from time to time.
STEPS TO TAKE WHEN CLEANING
1. Laptop
Know the type of keyboard you have. Some can be detached whilst others cannot.
A2. Desktop keyboard
A desktop keyboard can be detached, lifted and turned upside down for hidden particulars to drop out of it
3. Laptop Screen and PC Monitor
Dirt in corners to be removed completely
Press damp microfiber cloth gently and wipe in one direction.
4. Mouse
Wipe mouse surface with warm cloth and use toothpick to remove dirt from the corners.
PC CLEANING ITEMS
- Screen cleaning kit
- All-purpose brush or new soft toothbrush
- Cotton swabs can also be used though it takes more time.
- Disinfecting wipes and compressed air
- Dish detergent
- New soft sponge (watch drips and clean up immediately)
Cautionary Measures
- Back up important data
- Put off pc or laptop completely and keep it unplugged
- Spend time to clean as a bigger problem can occur if any damage like scratching the surface is done
- Cleaning to be done gently and carefully so as not to cause any damage to the keys and rub off the letters.
- Use of bleach or paper towel and tissue is not advised.
- If the dust or dirt is too much, a soft sponge soaked in distilled with a little dish detergent can also be used
- Avoid rubbing off letters on keys
- Should dry completely before being put back on
It is recommended to clean as often as possible, say once a week. But prevention is also key. Our hands should be clean when working on our laptops and food should be kept away.
I hope you find this helpful.
