Site Feedback vs. Site Comments

It seems to me that many people here at Wealthy Affiliate confuse the Site Feedback tool with the Site Comments functionality.

For example, I've received many comments in the past few weeks that gave great feedback on the layout of my site, but did not engage my content at all.

As a result, I have been forced to disapprove several comments like this. I really don't want to disapprove comments since it gives the author of the comment the wrong impression that their comment had no value.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I've been busy working on my sites and have some stable traffic going to them.

Thanks,

Ian

I was guilty when I first started I have to admit. Unfortunately we have no way to actually write back and say can you please change it because of this reason.

It is common problem however I don't know why. Feedback is clearly different from Comment.
I think Jeff has answered the question beautifully.

Had one last week. Incidentally a lot of comments I get make it obvious they are not genuine. Yes I know it's hard when sometimes your just not interested but you have to try and make it sound as if you were genuinely interested in the subject , hence why you SEARCHED

I've had some where it seemed that the person didn't even read my article but just skimmed it.

There are new people joining our WA community every day, Ian. Many of them have no idea on how to write engaging comments based on an article they have read. Instead they try to provide comments on the site's layout design, it's colors, and theme which in that context is not useful at all. As you stated those types of feedback belong specifically in the site feedback portion of the portal NOT the comments' portal.

I've been forced to occasionally disapprove of comments which offer zero value to the content article itself. These people just need to be made aware of the guidelines which should be followed when participating within the WA comments' portal. When these individuals see the result of a handful of their comments being disapproved perhaps then they'll get the message.

Good point on the fact that many are still newbies

There has been a great deal of training on this subject. Best wishes. By the way, we are not supposed to list our websites here. List them on your profile page.

Thanks for the tip. I removed the links to my pages.

Yes it is causing confusion! I do not ask for comments anymore, just website feedback! Maybe another training session is required to go through what the differences are!

Hi Ian / I did a blog on this last week as it seems to be an on going occurance !!!

If you look up this topic as a search question, you'll find hundreds of frustrated posts. It always happens. Even to the people giving improper feedback. The best we can do is pm them trying to explain why we disapproved, and how to properly offer feedback.

Now this is the feedback Standykgeoff :) When I first started that is exactly what I did (confused the heck out the two) AND I went through the trainings. The key is remembering- being new and understanding that there is a lot of information to consume. It is so funny to me how people forget that they stumbled when they were new, my goodness. Anyway, the key here is "explaining" to others not "complaining" and making people feel bad about their innocent mistakes. ~Sherry

You're right. People forget. I do too, but I try very hard to keep perspective. Everyone wants to succeed, and sometimes that can overshadow the important things that really bring you to success.
