I'm not sure what we're supposed to be writing on this blog, but I thought I use it to detail my progress, and I'll start with where I have been in this industry from where I started. Hopefully it won't bore you all lol.

It's been rough, I can tell you now, oh it's been a rough ride of highs and lows, more lows than highs for sure.

I think my parents must have sowed a seed in the back of my mind, you see, my parents did Amway unsuccessfully many years ago. It must have stuck at the back of my mind because I'd always wanted to work for myself, without the boss if you know what I mean.

I came out the military in 2001 and was already in Herbalife, I'd been looking up Network Marketing already, so when I left the Army I was all set to start. This was before the internet existed as we see it today, I think I must have replied to a newspaper advert or something.

I did Herbalife for around 6 months until I gave up after putting thousand of leaflets out and not making a single penny, if fact it had cost me about £1000 all in all. A year or so later I joined Kleeneze.

Kleeneze was pretty good, put catalogues out, make money, sweet. The problem I had was I had a night job at the time, so I couldn't get out in the evenings to collect the catalogues, so I was losing a lot, and that ate into the profit I was making selling products.

I only had a minimum wage job at the time so decided to look for another job so I could work days and do Kleeneze in the evenings, and that's when I stumbled upon Telecom Plus. I see an advert in a shop window about it, and because I had previously been in utility sales, I thought I would be perfect for it.

How wrong could I be, you see, i'd always canvassed in a team before, when it came to doing it myself I was just too nervous to knock on any doors. So that was the end of that, another couple hundred quid down lol.

In all this time there had been zero training on anything related to building a business.

For the next fair few years I didn't do anything because I thought maybe i'm just not good enough or something, and the training in the companies I had been in was non existant, then in 2011 or so i think it was, I started getting bombarded with emails from reps of Empower Network.

Fancy that, an internet marketing training company, well, obviously I joined. For the next 6 months I blogged 5 times a week, random rubbish, all similar, but they said you could do that, just blog about anything and some bugger will want to click on the affiliate links to learn how to make money from home.

Sure I got some views etc, but few people every clicked on the links and nobody joined obviously. But, what I also found was that this internet marketing training company, only sold the training, and for vast sums of money, so all the training I had was very basic, you know, facebook training.

Sit on facebook for a million years, send 25 friend requests a day and a bunch of messages, bild relationships etc etc, so I did, six months 3-4 hours a day, and one sign up. It was at that time my sponsor suggested I join MLSP, because the training is much better, so I did.

Same thing lol, basic training, all the stuff that actually works you have to pay for, well, I didn't have thousand to spend on training, so I binned it. I did another few companies, xplocial, skinny body fibre and myadvertisingpays, all without success.

I left it another couple years and went drop shipping instead, I couldn't believe it, I made £600 my first month selling amazon prducts on eBay, so I just did that, it was good. Anyway, like a doughut wanting the residual income stuff I decided to have another go, so I joined Melaleuca and mlsp again lol.

Low and behold I didn't sponsor a single person into either despite spending a huge amount of time trying, so I decided to do some research on what on earth the top people are doing to build there businesses. Would you believe it, they are doing what they are teaching.

I looked at the leaderboard in MLSP and Empower Network and looked at how they built their businesses, they was all doing a mixture of Video Marketing, blogging, PPC,PPV, Solo ads, and then followed that lot with things like Facebook.

Let look at some Well known, mega successfull Marketers. Chaps named David W, David S, Rob F, Ray H, was all hugely successful bloggers before every coming on Facebook and Twitter. Mark H massive on Youtube, Michelle P PPC with a fan page and Youtube videos.

I could go on all day, one thing they didn't do was sit on facebook sending friend requests and messages all day long, they had people come to them instead.

Obviously I decided I had to be doing the same thing, but I had to fund the training and the intitial costs of the advertising, the missus had sort of made the drop shipping money hers, so I had to look for another way of building an income and that's when I started Matched Betting.

This was a few years ago now, matched betting gave me the extra money I desired, so I've not been with a company since apart from the one I'm with for matched betting.

So what has changed, why am I now wanting to promote Matched Betting, and not just do it. 2 reasons, like I said, I've always wanted the residual income, and, every single person who lives in the UK who joins my company and does Matched Betting.....WILL make money.

I've been in the industry a long time, I've seen a ton of people come and go, without making a penny, and with losing sometimes thousands of pounds getting in to and running fancy businesses like Empower, MLSP, MOBE etc etc, I simply cannot promote a business that I know for a FACT, MOST people will never make the initial investment back, I just can't do it.

Call it morals, call it whatever you want, but I will never in a million years promote a high ticket opportunity because I know most people will lose the investment because they just won't be able to do it.

So now you know why I want to promote my Matched Betting company, why did I join Wealthy Affiliate. Simple, because I know blogging works. I could probably get much faster results with with PPC or some other method of paid advertising, but you have to keep doing it.

On the other hand, blogging and video, once you are ranking in the search engines, those videos and articles are there for long time, giving you a steady flow of traffic and potential new members month after month, year after year.

In short, long term traffic and potential residual income for the sake of one years work.

Anyway, that's about it. Hopefully I'll make some good friends in this company because I'm going to be here for a while :)

All the best

Ian.

Loved reading this and you certainly have tried so many different things. I am glad you are doing the matched betting and you are on here. All the best

Thanks buddy, yes I've been about a bit lol.

I feel your mlm pain, long lost sales brother! You’ve just missed out the cobra marketing (selling tatt out of a bag or advertising door to door) from the above. We’ve talked the talk and walked the walk, now it’s time to cast a web on the web (webbed the web?, nah, don’t think that ones going to take off)
Joking aside, I feel like I’ve found home here too, so let’s give it our best shot, eh?
Best wishes
Heyday

Hey Heyday thanks for the comment. I can see this is a place I'll be calling home too.
Your right, lets cast that web, in niches we actually have a passion for.

A quick heads up for here Ian as I’ve done the matched betting circuit a few years ago myself. I creamed off the good offers with success and then progressed to scalping and trading with limited success up until a couple of months ago, then knocked it all on the head, as I grew more and more frustrated with the trading angle, where I was drawn to making the same trades without the success that my time input could justify.
I’m not knocking matched betting, far from it, I know it is s constant money maker just so long as you don’t get drawn into dealing with its seedier cousins in the form of scalping and trading.
Back to the heads up, and as so far, I’ve only found 1 matched betting blog on here by a lady called dawn, who may or nay not be a member on here now. Rather interestingly, out of the 10 or so blogs that she posted, she only received 2 or 3 likes on each one, apart from the one which had the headline “£422 profit in 20 days” which got nearly 40 likes! Hashtag, just saying....

I did the trading myself and lost £500. Trading does definitely work, you just have to have the money to back you up. Regarding the comments on the ladies blog, are you talking about her WA blog, or website?

Yes it was her blog, I think her name was dawn? If you go to search bar at top of page and look for ‘£422 in 20 mins you should find it
Best wishes
