a quick rant about something happening with the keyword tool

Hi, I am nearing my 1 year membership here at WA, and one of the features of this site that I have used frequently and appreciated a lot until recently was the keyword tool. Lately though, its gotten horribly annoying, and its usefulness is greatly diminshed by having to do a captcha charecter thingy every time you want to check the number of competing sites for a keyword. The search generates lists of long tail keywords similar to the one you type in, you click on "competition" to view the number of sites listing each one, and choose the one with under 300, perferably under 100, as the main keyword for your site, as per what we are taught in the first course of WA training. Except suddenly its a huge hassel to check this out with the WA keyword tool because of some security feature. Is this imposed by Google? is there any way of getting around it. Its making keyword research with the WA tool tedious and nearly impossible as a person spends so much time typing gibberish for security purposes to research each one. Is there a way this could be improoved. As a valuable part of WA, the keyword tool needs to let us see the number of competing sites without hinderance, otherwise it is not working. Could someone with more programing knowledge than I please improove this so that I and thousands of others can continue using this valuable tool that WA has to offer with as much appreciation as we have for most of the past year. Thanks to whomever takes up the programing challenge to beat the "captcha" on this.

Hi Rena,

Jaaxy will never show a "Captcha" so if you're wanting to check the Competition of keywords frequently and do not want to prove to Google that you are not a computer, you may want to consider Jaaxy.

Google is in-fact serving the captcha to you, not to the WA keyword tool. The more frequently you check the competition, the higher the likelihood that google will think that you are a bot. When you enter the Captcha it tells them that you are real :)

Jaaxy was programmed specifically so that you won't ever get a captcha, it's very sophisticated technically and there is no tool like it out there.

Hi Carson, Answering the captcha once and being able to do a number of sunsequent competition searches is not quite the case here. If it was, I wouldn't have posted a rant about having to do one captcha once in a while. What drove me to the point of ranting is having to do it every single time, sometimes more than once, for every competition search after the first 4 or 5.
When one first starts using the keyword tool for the reaserch that we are taught to do in the courses here, that is important for marketing purposes, you are allowed to check the numbers for about 5 related keywords, and then you get a capcha every single time, which makes the research very tedious, sometimes more than one captcha for each keyword that you would like to look up the numbers for. As anyone who seriously tries this knows, it can take multiple times to find what is reffered to as the "low hanging fruit" Meantime, you are spending your research time typing gibberish for Google over and over. As a premuim member of WA, I am asking for suggestions about how to change this either on my own browser, or if the community and owners of the site could please do it in the tool so that I can continue reccomending its usefulness when I promote the site, and that people who use it can get some research done. Now that you've told me you guys have the capability to do it, I am looking forward to the time that you do, in which case WA will have a truely useful keyword reaserch tool once again that I will highly reccomend as part of the WA premium membership supplying "everything one needs to get started online"

This is in impediment placed into effect by Google due to all of the "related keyword" scrapers that have recently hit the market, there is nothing Jaaxy or the WA keyword tool can do to avoid it. You can thank all of the keyword tool developers and Google's need to cage all their keyword data for that one...

Sorry, but we do feel your pain!

Hi Leland,

For years Jaaxy has had the technical ability to deliver the competition without every giving a captcha, ever. So, to clarify, there certainly is something technical that we do to avoid captcha's and we've done it over at Jaaxy for years.

The WA keyword tool is great at finding awesome keywords, and for folks that use it frequently to reveal competition, captcha's are simply part of browsing to Google over and over again. No scraping is going on at the WA keyword tool, it's your individual browser being served the captcha, not the Keyword tool its self. For the most part, if you answer the captcha code, it tells google that you are real and it should get you by for quite number of subsequent competition searches.
