What a community here at WA!
I normally do not like to brag, but when I see a good community, I know it. I work in a catholic school (although I am not one) and one of the main reasons why is because everything they do is always linked to community. When I was reading up on WA before joining, how amazing the community spirit is kept on coming up again and again.
I have experienced this first hand this weekend. I dropped a link to one my recent posts, and the detail in the comments I got back was astonishing. This blog is to mainly thank everyone who not only went on the link and read a detailed post, they have exceeded my high expectations!
Due to the time difference, I dropped the link just as I was about to go to sleep on Friday night at 23:35 local time (having been up since 05:00), I was extremely tired and did not expect a lot. When I woke up at 08:00 Saturday morning, I had 7 comments to moderate. Ofcourse I went and gave detailed comments on everyone who left me one, and left some comments on others who put their links on after I went to bed.
Because I strongly believe in that you get back what you put in, I have spent the best part of this weekend going through other WA's website and genuinely reading their content. I thoroughly enjoyed watching a 8 minute video on Ronnie O'Sullivan getting a 147 break. I have made a new folder in my chrome bookmarks for WA users, and will try to check them weekly and leave comments on new posts.
I just want to say, it is better leaving a few detailed comments which link to what is already on there, and topics you know something about, than to just leave one line comments on a lot of different websites (just a thought from me). It pays to be helpful! On Saturday alone, I had 98 visitors & two G+ referrals (my first ever!) just from leaving comments on other peoples websites and posts.
As a result of my on-going interactions (mainly to see how quickly I can get my rank down), I feel I have not got the balance right between helping others and getting work I need to do myself done. Don't forget I am a teacher during the week and anyone who thinks it is a 9-3 is mistaken. I will be keeping interactions here on WA for the next 4 days to a minimum so I can catch up on marking and preparing for an observation lesson on Friday from senior management. A heads up more than anything else if you feel you are being ignored.
Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend, and until next time, best of luck with your venture!
Hassan

I am intrigued to hear that you are enjoying the community. I also wish you a lot of luck out in not just WA, but as a teacher as well. I know that you are going to be successful -Floridalma
